I have noticed for some time now that Run commands I enter (e.g., %temp%, services.msc, regedit, etc.) are wiped out when WRC is run. I can find no setting that tells it NOT to delete these. Is there some way to prevent the program from deleting Run commands?

v1.22 will not always load upon Windows startup. On both Win 10 x64 laptops, sometimes WAM does not load. Most of the time WAM is loaded however, but so now and then also WAT icon does not appear in system tray.
Checked Task Mgr to confirm this. WiseAntiMalwareServices is sometimes stopped. Also WiseAntiTray is sometimes stopped. Manually starting both and everything is working ok again.
    A bit erratic behaviour.

AnthonyPoelf reacted to Linkin in How to download YouTube Video For Free?
YouTube only allows users to watch and view videos on their website. Many users want to download their favorite videos to their computer so they can watch them without being connected to the Internet or so they can watch them on other devices. Below are the steps required for downloading and watching YouTube videos on your computer for free.

Go to http://www.wisevideosuite.com to download Wise Video Downloader.

Open any YouTube video page and copy the URL of the video you want to download.

Once this address has been copied, paste that URL into the URL bar and click the Download button.

Of course if you want to play the videos downloaded in multiple devices like your PC, your pad or smart phone. You are gonna need to convert them into different formats that is playable on these devices. Then the Convert feature comes in handy. It is a link to Wise Video Converter, which you can also download from http://www.wisevideosuite.com. The best thing about this converter is you don’t have to choose which format you need to convert into. Just drag and drop the video files to the corresponding big icons of devices, and then click Convert.

Notice: Not all the videos can be downloaded by Wise Video Downloader. Statistics show that more than 80% of the video files can be downloaded by this software. Please keep this software updated. By default, Wise Video Downloader will download the 1280*720 pixel video.

    Hi,
I was using a different software ( Revo UnInstaller ) to uninstall the program's / software that I wanted to delete off my computer. While revo seemed to function pretty well, it didn't always seem to find all of the installed program's on my computer. The wise program uninstaller does seem to find all of the program's that are installed, but doesn't always offer me the 'forced uninstall' option, shouldn't I ALWAYS be offered BOTH option's when I want to uninstall software on my computer ?
    Thanks,

AnthonyPoelf reacted to Chim in The "NEW" Utilities in the Utilities Sidebar
The other day I decided to try the Program Uninstaller in the Utilities Sidebar over on the right of WC 365.  I figured if it worked exactly as the standalone version, I'd naturally delete the standalone version from my PA.com platform in my Flash Drive as I would of course no longer need it.  No use having the same app twice in my Flash Drive apps arsenal.

Well, if I deciphered correctly what then happened ... I believe Program Uninstaller proceeded to be downloaded.  I aborted the download because [A]  I already have a Wise Program Uninstaller.    I have Dial Up Internet and didn't expect to be downloading anything at that time.

QUESTION #1:  Do ALL of those "NEW" utilities in the Utilities Sidebar need to first be downloaded before being able to be used?

QUESTION #2:  Will these "NEW" utilities eventually be incorporated into Wise Care 365 in a future version?  If so, how many versions from the current version?  One?  Two?  You know ... so they wouldn't have to first be downloaded and installed.

In other words, I'm hoping to get to the point to where Wise Care 365 covers ALL the bases and functions of ALL the current Wise standalone products that I use.  I like to operate lean & mean.  So the less standalone Wise apps that I'd have to have installed in my PA.com platform and have WC 365 cover all those functions ... the better.  Especially given that right now I haven't even seen a portable version of Wise Force Deleter.

AnthonyPoelf reacted to Linkin in Should You Defrag an SSD?
Nowadays, more and more computers are using SSD, some computer users upgrade their HDD to SSD, which brings the question should we defrag an SSD?

Traditional spinning hard drives have a metric known as Access Time (or Seek Time, which is a slightly different measurement) that refers to the average amount of time it takes for the drive armature to physically reposition the heads so that they can begin reading data from a given sector of the disk (it may be more or less depending on how far the heads have to travel). It should be noted that this latency is measured in milliseconds (thosandths of a second) and is incurred every single time the heads have to be repositioned.

The whole purpose of defragmentation is to arrange the files in such a way as to make them more or less sequential, so that the heads do not have to be repositioned as much in order to read a file.

SSD's do not have heads that need to be moved, nor do they have spinning latency. As a result, the access time for every cell in the matrix is equal, and is measured in nanoseconds (billionths of a second). Even if a file is very heavily fragmented, the increased latency to read it is imperceptibly small. Defragging will not improve performance to a noticeable degree.

Also unlike traditional spinning hard drives, the individual cells in an SSD have a limited number of write cycles before they "wear out". SSDs employ a wear-leveling algorithm to spread out writes to extend the life of the drive. Relocating the same data to a different area of the flash cells waste those write cycles. In this case, defragging can actually reduce the lifespan of the drive.

So now our concern is what shall we do to increase the lifespan of SSD.

Below are the 5 most basic and effective ways to improve SSD’s lifespan.
    1. Disable prefetch parameters to increase SSD working life.
    2. Disable Superfetch parameters to increase working life of SSD.
    3. Disable defrag system drive on boot to increase working life of SSD.
    4. Disable auto defrag when idle to increase working life of SSD.
    5. Enable TRIM function to improve working performance of SSD.

These tweaks may sound a little bit hard for normal users. No biggie, you can make all these setting modifications with one single click. I am not bluffing. Just download Wise Care 365, you can see System Optimizer feature in System Tuneup section. If there is an SSD in your computer, there will be an item called SSD Optimization right below Network Speedup( Unfortunately my computer does not have one, so this item is not shown here). Single click ‘Optimize’, Wise Care 365 will make all the 5 changes I mentioned above along with other optimizing tweaks.

Step 3: In right-side pane, double-click on "Do not display the lock screen" option and set its value to "Enabled".

If your Windows 8.1 does not have Group Policy Editor, you can use the Registry Editor.

    1. Press "WIN+R" key combination to launch RUN dialog box then type regedit and press Enter. It'll open Registry Editor.

    2. Now go to following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Personalization

If the above key doesn't exist, you'll need to create it manually.

    3. Select Personalization key and in right-side pane, create a new DWORD NoLockScreen and set its value to 1

    4. Reboot the computer and you will not see the lock screen any more.

AnthonyPoelf reacted to VijayW in Wise365 kills browser access to web (but not other web access)
I have run Wise365 (free edition) in the past on my Win7 desktop PC, no problems (although I may not have run the Registry Cleaner component). My desktop is fully updated and has never had any malware to my knowledge. This time I ran all the components, and since then my up-to-date version of Firefox can't access the web. The modem and account are fine: at least 2 other devices have full web access via same wireless modem and account. Email clients still work. Firefox can still open locally stored HTML pages correctly, but it can't access any server on the web. So I uninstalled current Firefox, installed an older version, same result. So I uninstalled that version, got an installable version of latest Firefox (58.0.1) via another device, and installed that. Same result. So I installed a copy of the latest Chrome browser - same result. Chrome will also open all local files, but not access the web.
At first sight, it seems the changes caused by Wise365 haven't damaged the browser, but the connecting layers between the browser and the network adapter. Is it a matter of missing files that I could download from MS or other sources (on another device), or is it because critical registry entries have been changed or removed?

Unfortunately it seems likely that it is the latter problem, and this might mean I have to buy a new OS because I don't have any recent restore point. Obviously that would be a major step and would lose years of work.
Any suggestions about what settings, files or registry entries that I could inspect, and possibly repair?

AnthonyPoelf reacted to Linkin in How to recover deleted files?
Lost files can usually be recovered—if you discover the loss soon enough. But every time you write to the hard drive, you lower the likelihood of a successful recovery. So use that computer as little as possible when you want to recover lost files unless you’ve given up hope.

Try these solutions, in this order:

    Use Wise Jet Search

There is a little chance that you placed the lost file somewhere else, but you are not sure where. In that case you will have to search the whole computer. With Wise Jet Search you can find any file in your computer unless the file is hidden or in the Recycle Bin. Users can also choose the file type or type in the keywords to narrow down the search. If you can’t find, read on.

    Check the Recycle Bin

Windows stores “deleted” files here as a safety measure. You’ll find the icon in the upper-left corner of your screen. if you find the files there, select them, right-click them, and choose Restore.

    Use your backup

If you back up your hard drive—or at least your libraries—on a regular basis, your files are probably preserved there. I don’t know which backup program you use, so I can’t tell you exactly how to search for and recover the files. It’s generally a pretty intuitive process.

And if you don’t back up, maybe it’s time to get into the habit. It won’t help you this time, but it could the next.

    Try file recovery software

Even a file that’s no longer in the Recycle Bin may still exist. Windows doesn’t overwrite the actual ones and zeros until another file needs the drive space. That’s why I told you to avoid using the PC as much as possible.

There are several good file recovery programs available. I recommend Wise Data Recovery. It’s easy to use and has a recoverability analysis feature showing users how likely they are going to recover the deleted or lost file.

And  it also has a portable version, which means that you don’t have to install it, you can use it on your PC without writing to the hard drive. Download the program on another computer, and unzip it to a folder on a flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into the PC with the missing files, and run it from there.

    Hire a professional (last resort)

This is the last resort, if none of the above suggestions work. There are many data recovery services available, and since your drive is still working, you probably don’t need one of the more expensive ones.
