Davidelari reacted to pstein in What is "unsafe" in "Deep Scan" ?
There are two types of scans: "Fast Scan" and "Deep Scan".

Below the "Fast Scan" it is written "Only scan safe entries".
From my point of view it means that "Deep Scan" is "unsafe".

    What is unsafe here?

Is a longer scan time the only disadvantage?

    Hi all!
I would like to see some new features of WRC:
    1) Regarding the installed version of WRC (scilicet the uninstaller version): DON'T REMOVE c:\users\user-name\appdata\roaming\wise registry cleaner\backup folder and the files in it.
    2) POSSIBILITY to select/tick/tap/check all found problems in a section and ignore them in one click.
Better: select part of the entries to ignore and ignore them in one click.
    3) POSSIBILITY to ignore all sections in the custom area (at the present we need to select at least one section)
    4) Command line parameter to defragment the Windows registry ONLY.

I can download but I cannot install the new version of Wise Disc Cleaner. It is repeatedly blocked as malware by Norton anti-virus. Norton does not like Download.com and reports that it is trying to install malware when I try to install (what claims to be?) Wise Disc Cleaner. I am now without WDC. Are there alternative download sites I can use?

    Hi adlane.

If you downloaded Wise Memory Optimizer 3.48 Free portable version, you can just extract its files in a folder.
Later you can move that folder where you prefer.
When you'll want to remove WMO, the uninstall won't be necessary: you will only delete the entire folder.

If you prefer the installer version of WMO, then you'll use its uninstaller in control panel\programs\uninstall (when you'll want to uninstall it, obviously).

    Hi all,
I downloaded this software and I tried to make it portable (i.e. use it without installation).
I achieved my goal, but I'm unable to see upload/download speed and components' temperature: the graphs are empty. Other functionalities (RAM usage and CPU usage) are shown without problems.
Is possible to create a portable version of this program or I'm forced to install it?

    Thanks for help, regards
    Methavas

PS: I'm using WSM v1.29 (latest version)

Wise Data Recovery doesn't read all drives

It was so wonderful to see that Wise Data Recovery came with Wise Care 365! I immediately downloaded the Data Recovery program and ran it. I'd had an external drive that failed me last month, and not enough money to do anything about it. So this - this was like a gift from Heaven!

Sadly, it turns out that Data Recovery is unable to read an external drive. Though Windows 7 can see it, though quite a few sample copies of recovery programs can see it - several can even list the files on it, but won't restore until I can pay for the "pro" version of the software...though all these can, at least, see the drive -- Data Recovery cannot.

Yep, I tried the dropdown menu. It reads C: and only C:

    Thank you for your time!

Davidelari reacted to Config in Tips: To manually start Windows XP with a clean boot
How to Recover Deleted Files in Windows For Free? Check this video

To manually start Windows XP with a clean boot, follow these steps:
Step 1: Start the System Configuration Utility
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK. The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed. Step 2: Configure selective startup options
In the System Configuration Utility dialog box, click the General tab, and then click Selective Startup. Click to clear the Process SYSTEM.INI File check box. Click to clear the Process WIN.INI File check box. Click to clear the Load Startup Items check box. Verify that Load System Services and Use Original BOOT.INI are checked. Click the Services tab. Click to select the Hide All Microsoft Services check box. Click Disable All, and then click OK. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer. Step 3: Log on to Windows
If you are prompted, log on to Windows. When you receive the following message, click to select the Don't show this message or launch the System Configuration Utility when Windows start check box, and then click OK.

Notes You have used the System Configuration Utility to make changes to the way Windows starts. The System Configuration Utility is currently in Diagnostic or Selective Startup mode, causing this message to be displayed and the utility to run every time Windows starts. Choose the Normal Startup mode on the General tab to start Windows normally and undo the changes you made using the System Configuration Utility. Step 4: Optional step to disable features
If the clean boot fixed the error, you do not have to perform this step.

Important If your problem is not fixed and you do have to follow this step, it permanently removes all restore points from your computer. The System Restore feature uses restore points to restore your computer to an earlier state. If you remove the restore points, you can no longer restore Windows to an earlier state.

This step temporarily disables Microsoft features such as Plug and Play, networking, event logging, and error reporting.
Click Start, click Run, type msconfig, and then click OK.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed. Click the General tab, click to clear the Load System Services check box, and then click OK. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer. If these steps helped you start your computer in a clean-boot state, you are finished. If these steps did not help, go to the “Next Steps” section. If you have to return your computer to a normal startup state, go to “Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state”.
Steps to configure Windows to use a Normal startup state
After you used the clean boot to resolve your problem, you can follow these steps to configure Windows XP to start normally.
Click Start, and then click Run. Type msconfig, and then click OK.
The System Configuration Utility dialog box is displayed. Click the General tab, click Normal Startup - load all device drivers and services, and then click OK. When you are prompted, click Restart to restart the computer.
