Registry Defrag dosen't work

Recommended Posts

I can't use Defragmentation option while using Wisecleaner.

After clicking on Analyse button i receive information about the degree of registry degragmentation but after clicking on Defrag button i see the following message : "An error occurs: Failure to restore". My computer screen dosen't turn grey as it used while performing degramentation Instead, my computer reboots but after that there is no change or sign that the defragmentation took place.

Any idea why it happens?. I didn't have such a problem before.

Thanks for any reply.

Hi Karolo82. :)

Can you find files using WiseJetSearch or WiseDiskCleaner advanced cleaner or WiseCare365 advanced cleaner?
If you can't, try to run chkdsk /R (from an elevated command prompt) on your OS partition.

By the way, I'd try it also if you can find files.

It shouldn't happen nothing in particular after those commands, but I recommend you to have a backup of your important data, a system image and a system restore point, NEW and ready to use.

I'm using only freeware Wise Registry Cleaner. Are you suggesting installing another of your programs which has the same feature that i wrote about?

To avoid misunderstanding i was referring to degramentation module that compress the registry rather than deleting orphanus entries.

I also run checkdisc on my computer as you promted but no errors were  found.

I have Avira antivirus and ZoneAlarm firewall installed as far as security software is concerned. Disabling them didn't help. I also reinstalled Wise Reg Cleanrer to no avail.

Will be glad for any ohter thoughts on the matter.

No, just to understand if they are working on your machine or not, and if they do not, a chkdsk should help.

I don't know if the chkdsk could help to solve this problem (with WRC), it was just curiosity.

(Yes, I saw you have tried it)

Hey Karolo82,

Sorry for the late.

As I said, security software was protecting system registry, It blocked wise registry cleaner to defrag registry.

Please open your Avira -> Real-time protection Configulation (maybe it is Settings) -> General -> Security, uncheck the last option - protect file and registry

Then open wise registry cleaner and run registry defrag.
