Pete_G
windows 8.1 start menu tiles not working.they do nothing.they are live updating but no response otherwise. Tried several fixes such as windows diagnostic tools, sfc/scannow, re-registering store, WSreset, to no avail. Also tried System Restore. System refresh is not an option. I am not sure when this problem started, for i hardly ever use the metro screen, however, they did work at one time.Operating system:Windows 8.1 (64 bit)System root: C:\WINDOWSAvailable physical memory: 3660 MBCPU: AMD E1-1500 APU with Radeon HD GraphicsDrive Info:C: 389.41 GBD: 15.50 GBInternet Explorer: 11.

Pete_G
Hello again. Yes I tried with windows firewall and avast anti-virus disabled, and the suggestions given in the link you gave. Nothing worked. I even uninstalled avast fully and tried that. I get the following error shown in the attachment.

xilolee
You could check the last post of that topic, if you have the same entries in the registry. Notepad++ could help to compare the reg files (yours and mine), instead than check them one by one with eyes...
