What firewall and antivirus are you using?

1) Delete CBS.log inside C:\Windows\Logs\CBS.

Run the following command from an elevated command prompt:

del %systemroot%\logs\cbs\cbs.log
2) Note: windows installation/repair cd could be necessary.

Launch sfc /scannow, wait until it finishes (15-50 minutes), check the final result (note it down).

If it says no integrity violations (or something similar), stop here... Otherwise restart your machine and relaunch the tool. Then, report both final results here.

Run the following command from an elevated command prompt:

sfc /scannow
3) If both results says that there are damaged files and it can not restore them, post here the CBS.log file (upload it using the forum feature or a website where you could upload files).

Run the following command from an elevated command prompt:

copy %systemroot%\logs\cbs\cbs.log %userprofile%\desktop\cbs.txt
How to run an elevated command prompt in Windows 8/8.1

You can use one of these four methods:

- right-click start (bottom-left corner), click command prompt (administrator), click yes on the user account control window that should appear

- click start, all apps, under Windows system right-click the command prompt in the list, click run as administrator, click yes on the user account control window that should appear

- click start, type cmd in the searchbox, right-click the cmd in the list of results, click run as administrator, click yes on the user account control window that should appear

- click start, type cmd in the searchbox, press and keep pressed ctrl + shift keys on your keyboard, then press enter, click yes on the user account control window that should appear
