WileyCoyote
I swapped the DVD units from 2 computers to troubleshoot a problem in the 2nd computer, and then I swapped them back. However, even though each is recognized properly by the BIOS, neither is recognized as a device in WinXPx64. (Only 1 drive is physically connected at a time, but the problem exists regardless of which drive I have connected.) Curiously, the drive letter (e:) they previously used is still being reserved because a virtual DVD drive I have installed (ELBY CloneDrive SCSI CdRom Device in Device Manager) is still assigned f: There has to be an easy solution for this, but it is evading me. I've searched various troubleshooting sites for a solution, but no luck. Any ideas? By the way, I'm loving my WiseCarePro. Have it scheduled to auto scan and repair every day.
