cannot update windows vista

Everytime I try to run windows update, I get the error message that I have attached.

I'm sorry it has taken me so long to get back to this forum. I don't know how to make a clearer picture. I took a screenshot and turned it into a jpeg and then sent it in the Wise PC 1stAid post. The error code in 80040154. When I try to update windows through windows update, I get the meeage that Windows could not search for new updates. Down underneath the code, it says Windows Update encountered an unknown error.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Please try this method below.

 

1.Restart your system, press F8 to access safe mode, delete all files listed in download folder and DataStore under c:\windows\SoftwareDistribution.

2.Restart and access the normal mode, run windows update again.

3.If the above method does not work, please go into this website below.

Run Fixit to fix, then run Windows update.
