Start Maintenance task will not start up. Do I can't clean win 8.1?

Hi, I hope i can get help with my problem. When i click on action center and then click on the maintenace tab the click on start maintenance it does nothing at all now?

I have been using the maintenace task to help clean my Win. 8.1 Lenovo Z580 Laptop since i went from Win 8 to Win 8.1, So the start maintenace task has ben working great. But now the last 5 days when I click on start maintenave it does not stat up the task to cleanmy Laptop? Tell what to do in step by step so i can get this function to start working again??

Since maintenance is all done in the background, can you please tell us how you know it is not running and what you observe when it is running? Here's mine started for comparison. Note the "maintenance in progress" message and the elevated activity in task manager. Please provide more detail.
