Windows Media Player Sound problem Error 32

Recommended Posts

I can get no sound from Windows Media Player. In Control Panel Sounds and Audio Devices Volume reports no audio device but Audio shows Default Device as Modem #1 Line PLayback with no other devices shown; but in Hardware C-Media AC97 Audio Device's status is shown as working properly at Location PCI bus 0. device 2 function 7.

I get system sounds and sound from software programs Guitar Rig 5 and Guiar Rig 4 using Bheringer Audio software configured with Asio.

In system information sound device is reported as C-Media AC97 and under Problem Devices I get WINMM WDMAudio Compatibility Driver (Pin Device ID SW{CD171DE3-69E5-11D2-B56D-0) Error Code 32.

Any help or advice would be welcome.

Problem arose after unistalling a free streaming program I had downloaded that didn't work.

Windows Media Player had worked perfectly before this incident.

Thanks
