When installing a new program it won't create icons on the desktop. When installing Dropbox or Malware bytes it will run once, but then is deleted when I restart my computer

I don't have any restoration software installed on my system. I'm using BitDefender for my antivirus. I know when I was using Avira I never had any problems except when I uninstalled Avira to install BitDefender; gave me a blue screen.
