It might caused by many reasons, here are some for your reference: 1. Accidentia, not common, then you can fix it by just restart your pc; 2. You might try this way, in 'Search' box of computer 'Start', search a folder names 'GPEDIT.MS ', then 'User Configuration','Administrative Template', 'Desktop', 'Remove Computer icon on the desktop'.

You might uninstall sp1 on control panel firstly, then update again.

1 way. You can install a newer version to update the old IE, the version you use to cover it must be an updated/newer version. 2 way. Open 'Control panel', 'Turn Windows features on or off', turn off your IE, then,turn on your IE, click 'ok'. In this way, your IE will be re-installed.
