WMohrCHS
My computer takes circa five minutes to startup even though I have disabled more or less everything. xilolee
Hi wmohrchs! 1) Open an elevated command prompt and type: cleanmgr /sageset:65535 Press enter, tick every option inside cleanmgr advanced menu, click ok, then type this: cleanmgr /sagerun:65535Press enter and wait until it finishes. 2) Download adwcleaner portable (click) and run it. 3) Download wise care 365 portable (click), extract it and put it on your desired/preferred folder. 4) Create a system restore point (or let it create by WiseCare, it should ask it to you the first time you run it) 5) Double left-click wisecare365.exe, click custom checkup, select/tick all entries (or the entries that you prefer), click ok, click checkup now, wait until the scan finishes, click fix now. 6) Click the third tab at top: system tuneup On the left, click the fourth tab: startup manager Remove unnecessary items (keep enabled antivirus and processor items) 7) Try to launbch sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt, wait 20-40 minutes till it finishes and report the result here. 8) Defrag your hard disks (it may take hours... Try first the OS partition only). If you often get BSODs, skip this. Keep us informed.
WMohrCHS
Thank you Xilolee; unfortunately it did not work. Before you wrote me your thoughts I already did this (since months!) at least twice a week. The speed got "much better" from almost five minutes to 3 1/2 minutes boot-up time. WKK - thank you - didn't help. I might end up with the "beloved" task of re-installing everything AGAIN--- It's a hard life in the mountains! WMohrCHS
I re-installed the system eight times so far during this laptop's life. It always worked rather fine for several days; Toshiba found nothing wrong. But I simply do not want to do the re-installing again. My computer even denied being restored from a complete restore point. More or less daily I run cleaning programs and I have all the good stuff from Wise working. Always I get positive messages like: Your computer is doing fine; no problems have been detected, and similar. Even a thorough cleaning that lasted almost 50 hours did NOT detect anything wrong. That thing does not overheat (140 degrees max) It sits stationary - but it simply misbehaves. Now even the Windows Security Center does not start automatically anymore; I'm loving it... Have a fine Sunday Xilo! Wolfgang
wisecleaner_admin
Hi WMohrCHS, First, you need to know, the CPU of you laptop "AMD Turion™ 64 X2 TL-62", I used it to run Windows Xp 6 years ago. Computer run slowly may caused by old hardware. Second, following steps may help you to speed up your laptop: 1) If you are running Windows Sidebar and tools, please disable them. 2) If you are running Windows Theme, please change it, just use a pure color picture as background. 3) If Windows Security Center cannot start automatically, please open Control Panel-->System and Security-->Administrative Tools-->Services, find out Security Center and double click it, reset its Startup type as Automatic, click Start to run it. 4) following steps, you can view this topic HTTP://forum.wisecleaner.com/index.php?/topic/5269-how-to-speed-up-your-pc/ Hope these suggestions are useful for you.
