display is altered when running a certain program

when i open a game program the display flickers and changes color,when i close it it returns to normal also it takes a long time to load and the screen turns black i have scanned for viruses and malware

Does this only happen when trying to open this certain (unknown) game program? If so, there is most likely a compatibility issue but I have no way of knowing without additional details. So, if there is more to this story, then...
