Migrating Kerio Mail Server to Exchange using IMAP migration is one of the simplest and most reliable methods because Kerio supports IMAP connectivity. The idea is to treat your Kerio mailbox as a source IMAP account and then transfer all emails to Exchange (Office 365 or on-premises Exchange) as the destination. To begin, you need to enable IMAP access in your Kerio Mail Server and ensure all user mailboxes are accessible with correct credentials. After that, you can use an IMAP migration approach—either manually through Exchange Admin Center or by using a utility like the SysInfo IMAP Backup Tool for a smoother experience.

In a typical process, you log in to the Kerio account via IMAP, and the tool or migration service fetches all mailbox folders such as Inbox, Sent, Drafts, etc. Once the data is loaded, you select Exchange as the target platform and authenticate the destination account. The migration then starts transferring emails from Kerio to Exchange while maintaining folder hierarchy, metadata, and attachments. Many tools also provide features like date filters, duplicate removal, and selective migration, which help in optimizing the process and avoiding unnecessary data transfer.
