Example screens shot attached* shows [excerpt] that the "hidden" drive "U:" shows all (U: has copies from unhidden source drive "D:" ) File: Path CaII from.docx D:\CLIENTS\2024 Clients Call from.docx U:\(Copy) CLIENTS\2024 Clients *Attachment [failed], file size in this forum is limited to 8.2kB!?!?! ABSURD! Can't attach an even tiny screenshot! Even a downsized and compressed excerpt of <6kb fails!!! "Sorry, an unknown server error occurred when uploading this file. (Error code: You can only upload a total of 8.2 kB.)" The file size was compressed down to 4kb!!!!! DOH?
wisecleaner_admin Posted December 22, 2025 Report Posted December 22, 2025 Dear JoeS, A file is saved as 2 parts on the disk: directory info (which is comprised of the file name, timestamp, size info, etc., and stored in the MFT) and data content. Windows Explorer reads the MFT and shows the file's regular info (name, size, etc.). Wise Folder Hider hides a file and tells Windows Explorer not to display this file's regular info, therefore you can not see this file in Explorer. However, a data recovery tool directly reads the MFT and data content, not using Windows File Explorer. This is why the iCare Format Recovery and other data recovery tools can find files that are hidden by Wise Folder Hider. Please try the Encryption feature of Wise Folder Hider. It may meet your requirements.
