XTHighamjak reacted to UCanFixIt in "Mark Solved" Option Now Available to Members
    Hello all members,

The "Mark Solved" option has been activated in the Computer Trouble-Shooting Discussion Board. Now originating posters (OPs) can select their own "Best Answer."

    How it works:

Each member response to an originating poster's issue will now include a "Mark Solved" button that can only be seen by the OP (see image1). If a specific response solves the OPs issue, he/she can simply click the Mark Solved button for that specific response and it will automatically do two things:

    1. It will update the index to show the OPs issue as "Answered." (see image2)
    2. It will add the "Best Answer" to the top of the OPs post. (see image3)

This new feature could really benefit members or guests that are looking for solutions while browsing or searching the Computer Trouble-Shooting Discussion Board.

Note: The Wise Specific Product Boards do not have this feature enabled.

How to Recover Deleted Files in Windows For Free? Check this video

Despite the incredible development of smart phones and tablets, there are still 60% percent gamers in America game on PC. Dozens of new games releasing every year require elevated system resources for an uninterrupted gaming experience. There is one common thing that is on every gamer’s mind: How do I optimize my PC for gaming?

Of course we know, buying the most cutting-edged CPU, GPU and SSD(solid state drive) will definitely improve the gaming experience. The thing is not all of us gamers can afford to spend such a fortune on them. In this article, I will show you tips and tricks to improve the gaming performance while spending no money or just very little money.

    1. Add more RAM
If you have read similar articles, some may suggest you increase the virtual memory. I would not recommend doing so. Because loading data from the hard disk is slower than loading from RAM. So I strongly recommend adding more RAM instead of increasing the virtual memory. With more memory, you can load game data more easily, without the need to access your disk drive. If you’re an active gamer, you should consider upgrading your PC or notebook to 8 GB or more. You can refer to my other article on how to choose the right RAM to upgrade for better performance( http://forum.wisecleaner.com/index.php?/topic/7443-how-to-choose-the-right-ram-to-upgrade-ram-of-windows-pc/ ).

But if you don’t have enough RAM and really need more virtual memory, you can increase Virtual Memory to assimilate a larger size of data making more room for the memory to facilitate the running game.

    Here is how:
    1. Go to Control Panel, view it in icons, and click ’System’.
    2. In the right side of System window, click Advanced system settings
    3. Go to the Advanced tab and click Settings under Performance section
    4. In the Performance Options window, go to the Advanced tab click Change button
    5. Click to choose the Custom size for virtual memory
    6. Put Initial size and Maximum size in MBs, and click OK button to save changes
    7. Click OK on Performance Options window and then System Properties window
It is directed to restart your computer in order to take effect of the changes you have made.

    2. Optimize the startup items.
When you start Windows, there are many applications and services that run automatically. Overall performance can be noticeably improved by stopping all of the unnecessary programs that bog down your PC and by running Windows without any third-party services. To optimize the startup items, download Wise Care 365, and click ‘System Tuneup’ in System Tuneup section. There you can disable all the apps and services according to your own needs.

    3. Update to the latest graphics driver
If you’re an avid PC gamer, you may own an Nvidia or an AMD graphics card. Both manufacturers update and fine-tune their drivers on a monthly basis to help improve gaming performance. Or maybe you have a laptop that has only one intel integrated graphics card. Updating your driver to the most recent version should deliver a slight increase in performance every time, and potentially make the entire experience smoother.

    A. Nvidia GeForce owners go to
    http://www.geforce.com/drivers.

    B. AMD users go to
    http://sites.amd.com/us/game/downloads/Pages/downloads.aspx

    C. For Intel HD Graphics owners, I suggest you go to
    http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?iid=dc_iduu
and download the Intel Driver Update Utility to update the driver.

    4. Download the latest patches for your games.
Like any piece of software, games are never completely finished upon release. After the games hit the shelves, the development teams are still fixing bugs and working to increase games performance. As such, users should get the latest patches available for them. Depending on your resolution settings and your specific machine, you will gain a couple of frames per second. This can mean the difference between a choppy and smooth gaming experience.

    5. Defragment your Disk
Hard Disk Drives continuously absorb new data. Frequent addition of new information and deletion of the old one causes the data to form clutters. It is then hard for system to track down the scattered game files, resulting in lags and pauses. To rearrange these fragmented files and data, open Wise Care 365, check all the partitions in your computer and defragment all of them.

Please not that if you are having SSD drive in your machine, it does not need to be defragmented, as it does not engage any fragments of information.

    6. Clean Windows Registry
Windows Registry is a set of information that contains specific instructions for applications, drivers, and services. System refers to the relevant information in registry, whenever an activity is performed. Such continuous use of registry makes it corrupted by assimilating errors. To attain an enhanced experience of gaming, you need to fix registry errors using a reliable registry cleaning software like Wise Registry Cleaner.

    7. Uninstall those old programs you don’t need
Windows keeps getting slower and slower with each program you install on your PC or laptop – and that has a direct effect on all of your games! The reason for this is that a lot of programs run some sort of background activity, even when they’re not being used. Download Wise Program Uninstaller and uninstall the programs you do not need. The good thing about this uninstaller is it clears all the residual items left behind after the built-in uninstaller finished its job.

    8. Free Up Hard Drive Space
Make sure you still have some space left on your hard drive. Not only does this give you little breathing room, your computer will also run slower because of it. Admit it, in most cases you don’t need half of what’s stored on your hard drive right now. So get rid of it.

    9. Before you play, close all other Processes, Services, and applications
If you are playing, you are definitely not doing anything else. All the active process, services and applications running in the background, either visible or not, are consuming your memory and other system resources to some extent. It is obvious that a game application requires adequate MBs of free memory to perform simultaneous actions easily. To provide this free memory, it is submitted to close down each running application (except the game) to free up the memory. Instead of closing the programs and services one by one in the Task Manager, you can download Wise Game Booster to close them all by one click, better yet, it also optimizes relevant system settings for better gaming experience.

XTHighamjak reacted to Linkin in How to download YouTube Video For Free?
YouTube only allows users to watch and view videos on their website. Many users want to download their favorite videos to their computer so they can watch them without being connected to the Internet or so they can watch them on other devices. Below are the steps required for downloading and watching YouTube videos on your computer for free.

Go to http://www.wisevideosuite.com to download Wise Video Downloader.

Open any YouTube video page and copy the URL of the video you want to download.

Once this address has been copied, paste that URL into the URL bar and click the Download button.

Of course if you want to play the videos downloaded in multiple devices like your PC, your pad or smart phone. You are gonna need to convert them into different formats that is playable on these devices. Then the Convert feature comes in handy. It is a link to Wise Video Converter, which you can also download from http://www.wisevideosuite.com. The best thing about this converter is you don’t have to choose which format you need to convert into. Just drag and drop the video files to the corresponding big icons of devices, and then click Convert.

Notice: Not all the videos can be downloaded by Wise Video Downloader. Statistics show that more than 80% of the video files can be downloaded by this software. Please keep this software updated. By default, Wise Video Downloader will download the 1280*720 pixel video.

I guess if I ask a question I'll just have to come back now and then to see if there is an answer.

XTHighamjak reacted to Linkin in How to Fix ‘Virtual Memory Too Low’?
"Out of virtual memory" is one of the Windows annoying errors. Usually your PC starts freezing first. Then an error appears and tells you that your virtual memory is too low. In this article we are going to explain what causes this error and how to fix it .

Note: Typically, this low virtual memory problem happens in an old computer.

    What is virtual memory?
Virtual memory, also known as page file or swap file, is a file on your hard disk that Windows uses in addition to physical memory (RAM) whenever the need arises. For example, when you are running an application or a process your RAM can’t handle, virtual memory is there to help. Usually the page file is 1.5 times the amount of physical memory.

Why does the "low on virtual memory" error occur?
There are two things that usually cause this error:
     1. You don’t have enough RAM;
     2. An application on your computer is buggy and is causing a memory leak.

    How to fix it?
Getting rid of this error is not too difficult, especially if it happens because your computer doesn’t have enough RAM. If that’s the case, all you need to do is add more physical memory to speed up computer performance. If you can’t do it immediately, you can increase the size of the page file. Here’s how to do it:

Right-click on My Computer and go to Properties.

Click on the Advanced tab (or Advanced system settings link if you are using Windows 7 or Vista) and then click on the Settings button in the Performance section.

A new window will open. Go to the Advanced tab.

Find the Virtual memory section and click on the Change button.

Select the System managed size option or manually change the size of the page file.

    Click OK.

It might just be the case that your computer needs more real, physical memory. By this I mean RAM sticks that can be purchased in most computer, electronics, or office supply stores. If your PC is more than three years old, chances are it's close to being obsolete -- at least in terms of the ability to run today's resource-hogging software packages. And adding RAM to an older computer is the most effective thing you can do to upgrade it.

However, if the error is caused by a buggy application, you’ll first need to identify the culprit. To do that, open the Task Manager (press Ctrl+Alt+Del on your keyboard) and go to the Processes tab. Then click on View –> Select Columns. Check the Virtual Memory Size (in Windows 7 choose Commit Size) checkbox and click OK. Now the Task Manager will be showing how much virtual memory each application is using. If you click on the VM Size or Commit Size column name twice, the processes will be sorted based on how much virtual memory they are using, from largest to smallest. You will instantly see which process in the most hungry one.

Then you’ll need to find the application that’s running the process.

Now that you know which program is causing low virtual memory, you can try to fix it. First of all try updating the software – usually updates fix bugs like that. If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the application. If that doesn’t work either, contact the software support team and search the Internet for that particular software problem.

XTHighamjak reacted to wisecleaner_admin in How to downgrade from Windows 10 to an older version
How to Recover Windows 10 to Windows 7/8.1

Microsoft has launched Windows 10 worldwide on 29 July, 2015 and will provide a free upgrade for existing Windows users. If you are running a Windows 7 or Windows 8.1 PC, you possibly already start to experience the new operating system. As we know up to now, Windows 10 has a good compatibility with most of popular applications, but not all. Although you may easily tend to be tempted by the free logic, we’d like to remind some users not to hurry up for the upgrading.
    1. Game player. It takes time for all game vendors to adjust their products to realize smoothly running under the new operating system.
    2. Some business software like digital sculpting, inventory, accounting software and the programming software not from Microsoft. It’s recommended to consult the vendors before upgrading.
    3. If your PC is running on previous versions of Windows (XP or Vista), which always means outdated hardware, it won’t work properly on Windows 10. You may fail during upgrading process or couldn’t booting your PC after that.

For those users having finished the upgrading, if you find you’d like to return the old version which you are used to, you could follow the following steps.
    1. Click "Action Center" on the right-down corner of Windows 10 desktop to get the pop-up.

    2. Then click "All settings" to get the System Setting menu. Choose the last item "Update & security"

    3. Refer to the diagram. Choose "Recovery"

    4. From the right column to find "Go back to Windows 7"
    5. Click "Get started" to get the pop-up. Choose one of reasons and click next step

    6. Click next step.

    7. Last reminding. Click next step

    8. Click "Go back to Windows 7" to start the system recovery.

    9. The recover process is taking about 20 minutes.

    Notes:
    1. You need to have the folders named $Windows~BT and Windows.old under the system drive to finish the "Go back"

    2. Some Cleaning up software may delete $Windows~BT folder to cause the fail of the system recovery. (WiseCleaner won't clean these two folders.)
If you possibly recover the old edition of Windows, please don’t forget to copy above two folders after you upgrade to Windows 10.

XTHighamjak reacted to donut in Microsoft Windows Installer Error 1320
The Microsoft Windows Installer Error 1320 may occur when you attempt to install software on your computer. For example, when you attempt to install the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software by IBM, you may receive an error message similar to "Error 1320. The specified path is too long.
C:\ProgramData\Application Data\SPSS." Several other programs that you attempt to install or uninstall an application may also produce the MSI 1320 Error.

    MSIExec.exe and InstMsi.exe Functions

    ·         When installing the SPSS software, the MsiExec.exe and InstMsi.exe functions return the MSI 1320 error if the installation folder named INSTALLDIR is mapped to a network drive.
Path names that are too long will also return MSI 1320 errors. For example, if you work with Visual Studio and you place projects in directories other than the hard drive, commonly "C," this is likely to occur.

    DOS SUBST Command

    ·         If you placed the INSTLLDIR folder in a substituted drive using the DOS SUBST command, an MSI 1320 may be returned. The DOS SUBST command is used to associate a path with the letter of a virtual or physical drive. Errors will occur if you use the DOS SUBST command on a network drive.

    Temporarily Modify Shortcut

    ·         Modify the C:\ProgramData directory by removing the Application Data shortcut before you install the software. You'll have to show hidden files to locate the shortcut. To do this, navigate to the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel." Click "Appearance and Personalization," and then click "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab, and then click "Show hidden files and folders" located under "Advanced Settings." Click "OK." Drag the "Application Data" shortcut to your Desktop. If that's not possible, rename the folder to unlock it first, and then drag the "Application Data" shortcut to your Desktop. Place the shortcut back to the C:\ProgramData directory after you finish installing the software.

    Warnings and Considerations

    ·         Some of your settings may not be restored after you remove and then replace the Application Data shortcut. Workaround this by selecting the "Do not show hidden files and folders" option in the Folder and Search Options category. You'll also want select the "Hide protected operating systems files" option to restore your original settings.

Contact the software or hardware manufacturer of the software or hardware you're trying to install to get the appropriate support. Visiting the manufacturer's website and posting a query on a forum may lead to a faster result.

    Hey xilolee,
    Thanks for your feedback.

1 and 2 translation problem, we will improve it.

The folder "...." normally it was created by WFH v3, v4 won't use it again. Its properties is Hidden, just change your Folder View settings, then you won't see it again. If you still want to delete it, please email to [email protected], the staff can help you.

The error message "Failed to load WiseFs.sys", normally you just need to restart system, then it will be registered automatically. If you have tied it, but it still didn't work, please registered it manually, or uninstall WFH, then reinstall it and reboot.

A newbie (to Wise) question:  What is "lock?"  I'm hoping it has something to do with hiding,  When I hide a folder it doesn't hide at all, just camouflages itself"  the "hidden" file is a subfolder under a Hide Folder folder under a gibberish named folder.

I´m using hidden folders into another hidden folders.
To open this last folder, i have first to unhide the main folder complete..

Is there a possibility to refresh the folder list after click "open" without "unhide" the hidden main folder permanent?

XTHighamjak reacted to Chim in Discrepancy Between WDC and Wise Care 365 Junk Files
I mentioned this issue over on my Wise Care 365 vs. Wise Registry Cleaner thread.  I thought I'd put it here in its own thread since on the surface, it looks like it MIGHT be a WDC issue instead of a Wise Care 365 issue ... although I could be wrong.  Either way, now I have visual proof and more detail.

In the 2nd image attached below, you'll notice how Wise Care 365 4.5.6 managed to detect 695 Junk Files Created by Applications for a total of 92.3 MegaBytes.  While it found various items first in that category ... starting with the yellow highlighted items, it was predominantly a mountain of Maxthon Cloud browser cache.  Of course, I only included a micro sample of that Maxthon cache.

In the 1st image attached below, you'll notice how Wise Disk Cleaner 9.41 detected NO Junk Files.  That is quite a huge discrepancy.  I could be wrong in my thinking, but I would think that WDC and the Common Cleaner function in Wise Care 365 would / should work pretty much the same and yield same results or at least pretty close to the same.

True, as was mentioned in the Wise Care 365 vs. Wise Registry Cleaner thread, Wise does NOT at this time support Maxthon.  However, logically, the results of this experiment seem to indicate that either WDC or the Common Cleaner function in Wise Care 365 is wrong ... or both --- and needs to be fixed to match the other app.  In other words, either Wise Care 365 should NOT have detected all those 695 items as Junk Files Created by Applications ... or WDC SHOULD have detected them instead of missing them.

Oh, and also, as can be seen in the 2 images, there also seems to be a noticeable discrepancy in the Old Prefetch Data between the 2 apps.  True, it's not a huge discrepancy as with the other issue, but a discrepancy nonetheless.  I don't know if there is a logical explanation for that or whether that also needs to be looked into.

Sorry about how I discussed the 2nd image first instead of starting with the 1st image.  It's that after submitting my topic, the order of my images was mysteriously swapped.  So, I had to edit the text to match the order of the images.

I translate to portuguese the Wise apps there are several years.
I use to update the translations and send them by email but, sometimes, despite the timely sendings, the new versions don't include the updated translations.
It's the case of Wise Care 365 v4.1.3 that don't include the last updated translation for v4.1.1 sended on March,24.
To avoid outdated translations, I will post them in the forum too and they will be available for download to the users who want to use them.

XTHighamjak reacted to xilolee in WRC can't import exclusion.dat from an exported one by WiseCare365 and Vice Versa
This happens because the exclusion.dat of WiseCare365 includes File= and Key=, hence it can't be imported in WRC.
Vice versa, the exclusion.dat of WRC can't be imported in WiseCare365 because the keys/values are not preceded by Key=, and the strings finish with an = (equal sign --- I wonder why is that present?).

It would be nice if this were possible.

I always suggest to add an extra module for cleaning traces of uninstalled from all hardware drivers, also saw the advent of ultra-broadband in many states (Italy: D) an optimization ones of RWIN and MTU
