RobertPhesk reacted to Bob'sYourUncle in MUR's With Chinese Text Plus Chromium Reg. Entry
I keep getting MUR's with Chinese text in them.  Anything I see on my PC that is Chinese rather it be text or what ever, I instantly assume its bad and treat it as such unless I can verify that its 100% safe.  So, anybody know why I'm getting these MUR's and are they safe?  If not, then what do I need to do about preventing them from coming back?  I have attacked a screenshot of the MUR's that Wise Cleaner finds so you can see what I'm talking about.

Also, This registry entry "(HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Chromium\(Default)" keeps coming back even though I have deleted it.  I have google searched this and there's this malicious browser called Chromium but I have never installed it(as far as I know) & I cant find any information about this registry entry that keeps coming back.

Thanks for any help you guys/gals can provide.

RobertPhesk reacted to Linkin in How to Remove Ask Toolbar from Internet Explorer Completely?
Ask toolbar is promoted via other free programs and once installed on your computer, they will hijack your browser homepage and replace your default search engine. Sometimes you may find Ask toolbar in your Internet Explorer without you knowing when you installed it.
In this article, I will show you how to remove it completely from your IE You may see more than a lot of articles on how to remove Ask toolbar on the internet, but in this one, I am gonna tell you the easiest fix.
First you should download Wise Program Uninstaller(http://wisecleaner.com/wiseuninstallerfree.html), a function formidable program uninstaller. Someone may wanna ask, we can uninstall a software in Control Panel, why bother downloading a third party uninstaller. One thing you might not know is the uninstaller built in a software can’t remove a software completely, it might leave behind some residual files, folders or registry. Accumulation of this kind of junk files or registry could lead to a slow computer or even computer crash.

After downloading Wise Program Uninstaller, find Ask toolbar in the list. Of course if you have a lot of programs, you can just quick search it. When you find it, single click it, you will see a key called Safe Uninstall, single click it, it will automatically execute the built-in uninstaller of Ask toolbar. When this process is finished, Wise Program Uninstaller will analyze all the associated files, folders and registry entries, and present you a list of the analyzing result. You can just click Remove to erase all these useless files. Then you will find the toolbar is already gone from your IE browser.

    One more thing
How do I change Ask.com default home page or search engine in Internet Explorer?
Internet Explorer allows you to change your browser home page at any time. In the upper right corner of your Internet Explorer browser window, select the gear icon (as shown below), and then "Internet Options" from the drop down menu. If you cannot find the gear icon, find the row of menus across the top of your computer screen such as File, Edit, View, etc. Click on the menu that says Tools, and from that Tools menu, click on Internet Options. Then proceed to the next step.

Find the section marked "Home page." When you first open Internet Options, the entire home page address should be highlighted in light blue; type the backspace key on your keyboard to delete it. Alternately, use your mouse to select the entire address you see beginning with "http://www.search.ask.com" and delete it with the backspace key. Then, type your desired home page in that space--for example, if you'd like Yahoo as your homepage, type in www.yahoo.com. Once you have typed in your preferred homepage, click "Apply" and then click "OK."

That's it for your default homepage settings! After making the change to your default homepage, you'll need to open a new Internet Explorer window to see the change. Changing your homepage setting doesn't retroactively affect pages you already had open prior to making the change.

RobertPhesk reacted to UCanFixIt in "Mark Solved" Option Now Available to Members
    Hello all members,

The "Mark Solved" option has been activated in the Computer Trouble-Shooting Discussion Board. Now originating posters (OPs) can select their own "Best Answer."

    How it works:

Each member response to an originating poster's issue will now include a "Mark Solved" button that can only be seen by the OP (see image1). If a specific response solves the OPs issue, he/she can simply click the Mark Solved button for that specific response and it will automatically do two things:

    1. It will update the index to show the OPs issue as "Answered." (see image2)
    2. It will add the "Best Answer" to the top of the OPs post. (see image3)

This new feature could really benefit members or guests that are looking for solutions while browsing or searching the Computer Trouble-Shooting Discussion Board.

Note: The Wise Specific Product Boards do not have this feature enabled.

RobertPhesk reacted to donut in How to Fix Low Disk Space in Windows XP?
Windows XP alerts you when disk space reaches a critical level, but you have several options to free up hard drive space. XP includes an built-in utility, called Disk Cleanup, that deletes unnecessary files from the most common locations. More disk space can be gained by deleting files manually or moving them to an external hard drive.

    Low Disk Space Warning

    ·         Windows XP warns you when it detects your computer is running out of disk space. The first warning comes when less than 200 megabytes of space is available: a pop-up window will appear for ten seconds once every session (each time you log on to your computer). The warnings become more frequent as free space decreases. With less than 80 megabytes of free space the warning appears twice for 30 seconds, spaced four hours apart. At 50 megabytes or less, the message appears every five minutes for 30 seconds. The warnings do not stop until free disk space is above 200 megabytes.

    Disk Cleanup

    ·         The easiest way to free up hard drive space in Windows XP is to use Disk Cleanup. The program deletes temporary Internet files from Internet Explorer, downloaded program files, optional Windows components, Windows temporary files and older System Restore points. You can select check boxes to choose which categories to delete. If Disk Cleanup does not free up enough space, it may be necessary to delete files manually.

    Unnecessary Files

    ·         Remove files and application you do not use to free up disk space. Empty the Recycle Bin and clean out the cache of your Web browser. Review the applications installed on your PC. Those applications you do not use should be uninstalled using the “Add/Remove Programs” function located in the Windows Control Panel. Ensure that no duplicate files exist on your PC: remove any files that are duplicates.

    Folders

    ·         Your Downloads folder (or any location you use to store downloaded content) may be taking up a lot of disk space. Empty these folders of files that you no longer need or use. Pictures and videos also take up a lot of space: Delete those pictures and videos that you do not wish to keep. Using Windows Explorer, look around your hard drive for temporary installation folders and delete those as well. Once you complete the deletion process, be sure to empty your Recycle Bin to reclaim the space.

    External Storage

    ·         If there is no need to keep the files on your computer’s hard drive, consider using an external hard drive to store some of your content, especially larger files. External drives come in various capacities, some as large as the hard drive currently in your computer. These drives connect via USB, and when connected can be used as an additional hard drive for your PC.

RobertPhesk reacted to Linkin in How to download YouTube Video For Free?
YouTube only allows users to watch and view videos on their website. Many users want to download their favorite videos to their computer so they can watch them without being connected to the Internet or so they can watch them on other devices. Below are the steps required for downloading and watching YouTube videos on your computer for free.

Go to http://www.wisevideosuite.com to download Wise Video Downloader.

Open any YouTube video page and copy the URL of the video you want to download.

Once this address has been copied, paste that URL into the URL bar and click the Download button.

Of course if you want to play the videos downloaded in multiple devices like your PC, your pad or smart phone. You are gonna need to convert them into different formats that is playable on these devices. Then the Convert feature comes in handy. It is a link to Wise Video Converter, which you can also download from http://www.wisevideosuite.com. The best thing about this converter is you don’t have to choose which format you need to convert into. Just drag and drop the video files to the corresponding big icons of devices, and then click Convert.

Notice: Not all the videos can be downloaded by Wise Video Downloader. Statistics show that more than 80% of the video files can be downloaded by this software. Please keep this software updated. By default, Wise Video Downloader will download the 1280*720 pixel video.

While revo seemed to function pretty well, it didn't always seem to find all of the installed program's on my computer. The wise program uninstaller does seem to find all of the program's that are installed, but doesn't always offer me the 'forced uninstall' option, shouldn't I ALWAYS be offered BOTH option's when I want to uninstall software on my computer ?
    Thanks,

RobertPhesk reacted to VijayW in Wise365 kills browser access to web (but not other web access)
I have run Wise365 (free edition) in the past on my Win7 desktop PC, no problems (although I may not have run the Registry Cleaner component). My desktop is fully updated and has never had any malware to my knowledge. This time I ran all the components, and since then my up-to-date version of Firefox can't access the web. The modem and account are fine: at least 2 other devices have full web access via same wireless modem and account. Email clients still work. Firefox can still open locally stored HTML pages correctly, but it can't access any server on the web. So I uninstalled current Firefox, installed an older version, same result. So I uninstalled that version, got an installable version of latest Firefox (58.0.1) via another device, and installed that. Same result. So I installed a copy of the latest Chrome browser - same result. Chrome will also open all local files, but not access the web.
At first sight, it seems the changes caused by Wise365 haven't damaged the browser, but the connecting layers between the browser and the network adapter. Is it a matter of missing files that I could download from MS or other sources (on another device), or is it because critical registry entries have been changed or removed?

Unfortunately it seems likely that it is the latter problem, and this might mean I have to buy a new OS because I don't have any recent restore point. Obviously that would be a major step and would lose years of work.
Any suggestions about what settings, files or registry entries that I could inspect, and possibly repair?

    Hi

I recently got a new PC and was getting it set up okay.I found a way to restore the Games folder on for Windows 10(using the shell:games) command in Run.

I made copied and my games executables, and then pasted the shortcuts in my newly created Games folder. Now,i did the same for some steam games and that seemed to work.

But then when i asked Steam create a desktop shortcut for a game, and placed it in my Games folder i get a shorcut with no image attached to it.And i can't right click on it to get any options. And more importantly i can't delete this shorcut from my Games folder.

    I looked into shell:appsfolder,but i can't see the Steam dektop shortcut(3rd paragraph)there.

Does anyone know how i can delete this Steam desktop shortcut form my Games folder?.

    Thanks in advance.

Q: What is “1 device doesn't support the current OS”?
A: For example, you have a sound card on your PC and the OS is XP system, but this sound card only supports Win 7 and later system. There is no driver for XP system.

Q: When does Wise Driver Care auto create a system restore point?
A: This function is only available in Pro version, and only if you click the top right Fix button.

Q: Why does Wise Driver Care not list the restore point?
A: Because Wise Driver Care only lists the restore point created by itself. If the driver is provided by Windows system, Wise Driver Care won't back up it. Because when you reinstall Windows, the driver will be installed at the same time.

RobertPhesk reacted to Linkin in How to recover deleted files?
Lost files can usually be recovered—if you discover the loss soon enough. But every time you write to the hard drive, you lower the likelihood of a successful recovery. So use that computer as little as possible when you want to recover lost files unless you’ve given up hope.

Try these solutions, in this order:

    Use Wise Jet Search

There is a little chance that you placed the lost file somewhere else, but you are not sure where. In that case you will have to search the whole computer. With Wise Jet Search you can find any file in your computer unless the file is hidden or in the Recycle Bin. Users can also choose the file type or type in the keywords to narrow down the search. If you can’t find, read on.

    Check the Recycle Bin

Windows stores “deleted” files here as a safety measure. You’ll find the icon in the upper-left corner of your screen. if you find the files there, select them, right-click them, and choose Restore.

    Use your backup

If you back up your hard drive—or at least your libraries—on a regular basis, your files are probably preserved there. I don’t know which backup program you use, so I can’t tell you exactly how to search for and recover the files. It’s generally a pretty intuitive process.

And if you don’t back up, maybe it’s time to get into the habit. It won’t help you this time, but it could the next.

    Try file recovery software

Even a file that’s no longer in the Recycle Bin may still exist. Windows doesn’t overwrite the actual ones and zeros until another file needs the drive space. That’s why I told you to avoid using the PC as much as possible.

There are several good file recovery programs available. I recommend Wise Data Recovery. It’s easy to use and has a recoverability analysis feature showing users how likely they are going to recover the deleted or lost file.

And  it also has a portable version, which means that you don’t have to install it, you can use it on your PC without writing to the hard drive. Download the program on another computer, and unzip it to a folder on a flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into the PC with the missing files, and run it from there.

    Hire a professional (last resort)

This is the last resort, if none of the above suggestions work. There are many data recovery services available, and since your drive is still working, you probably don’t need one of the more expensive ones.

I keep getting a notice that not all Opera Stables program has been deleted. There is a list of the files to be deleted and I need to check and hit delete. I have done so many times now and still I get the notice. Seems like its in a loop of some sort. Any ideas? Thanks

RobertPhesk reacted to KNRover in 1-Click icon does nothing
Although I've had Wise Registry Cleaner on my computer for about 3 years, I never noticed the "1-click" icon setting. It is supposed to allow you to click it and WRC runs in the background. Only one problem: It doesn't work. Reason I know it isn't working is because after clicking it (and tried double-clicking it, too), I open WRC and run a deep scan. That scan finds lots of safe-go-delete items, which it shouldn't because the 1-click should have already cleaned them out.

I have the latest version (9.4.7.619). Is this a bug?

There is a mistake in bulgarian translation.

    It is wrong:
"FrmProcess.lblinfo.caption=Компютърът ти ще бъде неизползвам за няколко секунди."

    Correct phrase is this:
"FrmProcess.lblinfo.caption=Компютърът ти ще бъде неизползваем за няколко секунди."
