	If Wise Care 365 or Wise Disk Cleaner freezes while scanning Cookies (including browsed History, saved form information, and saved passwords)  and then closes unexpectedly, this is caused by ESET’s Browser protection.
</p>

<p>
	We do not recommend disabling ESET’s real‑time protection. Instead, add Wise Care 365 or Wise Disk Cleaner to ESET’s exclusion/allowlist. The steps below use ESET Internet Security and Wise Disk Cleaner as an example:
</p>

<p>
	1. Open ESET.
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/1.png.4ff22ff7e6d0cb459c60bd4888e52917.png" data-fileid="4132" data-fileext="png" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="4132" data-ratio="65.50" data-unique="qoqavk0hn" width="1000" alt="1.png" src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/1.thumb.png.2b2f280df00cd03968f435c2fbaafcfc.png"></a>
</p>

<p>
	2. In the left pane, click "<strong>Setup</strong>", then on the right, click "<strong>Computer protection</strong>".
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/2.png.fa15d293975750dcb98ebf4740989ef4.png" data-fileid="4133" data-fileext="png" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="4133" data-ratio="65.50" data-unique="xgwce2hm9" width="1000" alt="2.png" src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/2.thumb.png.4e3a9158e15d9b809c7d4b19815ddd8d.png"></a>
</p>

<p>
	3. Under Computer protection, find "<strong>Real‑time file system protection</strong>", click the gear icon, then click "<strong>Configure…</strong>".
</p>

<p>
	<a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/3.png.5af88374c3cb28143810b2375ce269e2.png" data-fileid="4134" data-fileext="png" rel=""><img class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" data-fileid="4134" data-ratio="65.50" data-unique="cf17g7zym" width="1000" alt="3.png" src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_2025_10/3.thumb.png.d73632efbb6e2b3569859d930454d10c.png"></a>

<p>
	4. In the Configure window, click "<strong>Browser protection</strong>" on the left. On the right, find "<strong>Browser protection allowlist</strong>" and click "<strong>Edit</strong>".

<p>
	5. Click "<strong>Add</strong>" and enter this path (adjust if you installed Wise Disk Cleaner to a different folder):

	<strong>C:\Program Files (x86)\Wise\Wise Disk Cleaner\WiseDiskCleaner.exe</strong>

</p>

<p>
	6. Click Save (or OK) until all dialogs are closed to keep the changes.
</p>

<p>
	Finally, open Wise Disk Cleaner and run the Cookies scan.
</p>

<p>
	If you do not have ESET installed but see the same behavior, please tell us the name and version of your antivirus/endpoint product so we can reproduce the issue and find a solution.

</div>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Despite the incredible development of smart phones and tablets, there are still 60% percent gamers in America game on PC. Dozens of new games releasing every year require elevated system resources for an uninterrupted gaming experience. There is one common thing that is on every gamer’s mind: How do I optimize my PC for gaming?</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Of course we know, buying the most cutting-edged CPU, GPU and SSD(solid state drive) will definitely improve the gaming experience. The thing is not all of us gamers can afford to spend such a fortune on them. In this article, I will show you tips and tricks to improve the gaming performance while spending no money or just very little money.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">1. Add more RAM</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">If you have read similar articles, some may suggest you increase the virtual memory. I would not recommend doing so. Because loading data from the hard disk is slower than loading from RAM. So I strongly recommend adding more RAM instead of increasing the virtual memory. With more memory, you can load game data more easily, without the need to access your disk drive. If you’re an active gamer, you should consider upgrading your PC or notebook to 8 GB or more. You can refer to my other article on how to choose the right RAM to upgrade for better performance( <a data-ipb="nomediaparse" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/index.php?/topic/7443-how-to-choose-the-right-ram-to-upgrade-ram-of-windows-pc/" rel="">http://forum.wisecleaner.com/index.php?/topic/7443-how-to-choose-the-right-ram-to-upgrade-ram-of-windows-pc/</a> ).</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">But if you don’t have enough RAM and really need more virtual memory, you can increase Virtual Memory</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;">to assimilate a larger size of data making more room for the memory to facilitate the running game.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Here is how:</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>1.</strong> Go to <strong>Control Panel</strong>, view it in icons, and click</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>’System’</strong>.</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>2.</strong> In the right side of System window, click <strong>Advanced system settings</strong></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>5.</strong> Click to choose the <strong>Custom size </strong>for virtual memory</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>6.</strong> Put Initial size and Maximum size in MBs, and click <strong>OK</strong> button to save changes</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>7.</strong> Click OK on Performance Options window and then System Properties</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;">window</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Please not that if you are having SSD drive in your machine, it does not need to be defragmented, as it does not engage any fragments of information.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">6. Clean Windows Registry</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Windows Registry is a set of information that contains specific instructions for applications, drivers, and services. System refers to the relevant information in registry, whenever an activity is performed. Such continuous use of registry makes it corrupted by assimilating errors. To attain an enhanced experience of gaming, you need to fix registry errors using a reliable registry cleaning software like Wise Registry Cleaner.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">7. Uninstall those old programs you don’t need </span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Windows keeps getting slower and slower with each program you install on your PC or laptop – and that has a direct effect on all of your games! The reason for this is that a lot of programs run some sort of background activity, even when they’re not being used. Download Wise Program Uninstaller and uninstall the programs you do not need. The good thing about this uninstaller is it clears all the residual items left behind after the built-in uninstaller finished its job. </span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">8. Free Up Hard Drive Space</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Make sure you still have some space left on your hard drive. Not only does this give you little breathing room, your computer will also run slower because of it. Admit it, in most cases you don’t need half of what’s stored on your hard drive right now. So get rid of it.</span>  </span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">9. Before you play, close all other Processes, Services, and applications</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">If you are playing, you are definitely not doing anything else. All the active process, services and applications running in the background, either visible or not, are consuming your memory and other system resources to some extent. It is obvious that a game application requires adequate MBs of free memory to perform simultaneous actions easily. To provide this free memory, it is submitted to close down each running application (except the game) to free up the memory. Instead of closing the programs and services one by one in the Task Manager, you can download Wise Game Booster to close them all by one click, better yet, it also optimizes relevant system settings for better gaming experience. </span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">First you should download <strong>Wise Program Uninstaller(<a href="http://wisecleaner.com/wiseuninstallerfree.html" rel="">http://wisecleaner.com/wiseuninstallerfree.html</a>)</strong>, a function formidable program uninstaller. Someone may wanna ask, we can uninstall a software in Control Panel, why bother downloading a third party uninstaller. One thing you might not know is the uninstaller built in a software can’t remove a software completely, it might leave behind some residual files, folders or registry. Accumulation of this kind of junk files or registry could lead to a slow computer or even computer crash.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">After downloading Wise Program Uninstaller, find Ask toolbar in the list. Of course if you have a lot of programs, you can just quick search it. When you find it, single click it, you will see a key called Safe Uninstall, single click it, it will automatically execute the built-in uninstaller of Ask toolbar. When this process is finished, Wise Program Uninstaller will analyze all the associated files, folders and registry entries, and present you a list of the analyzing result. You can just click Remove to erase all these useless files. Then you will find the toolbar is already gone from your IE browser.</span></span></p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-75872500-1411639761.png" data-fileid="1459" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-75872500-1411639761_thumb.png" data-fileid="1459" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="QQ截图20140925113135.png"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">One more thing</span></span> </strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">How do I change Ask.com default home page or search engine in Internet Explorer?</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Internet Explorer allows you to change your browser home page at any time. In the upper right corner of your Internet Explorer browser window, select the gear icon (as shown below), and then "Internet Options" from the drop down menu. If you cannot find the gear icon, find the row of menus across the top of your computer screen such as File, Edit, View, etc. Click on the menu that says Tools, and from that Tools menu, click on Internet Options. Then proceed to the next step. </span></span></p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-36935000-1411639785.jpg" data-fileid="1460" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-36935000-1411639785_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="1460" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="IE 1.jpg"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Find the section marked "Home page." When you first open Internet Options, the entire home page address should be highlighted in light blue; type the backspace key on your keyboard to delete it. Alternately, use your mouse to select the entire address you see beginning with "<a href="http://www.search.ask.com" rel="external nofollow">http://www.search.ask.com</a>" and delete it with the backspace key. Then, type your desired home page in that space--for example, if you'd like Yahoo as your homepage, type in www.yahoo.com. Once you have typed in your preferred homepage, click "Apply" and then click "OK." </span></span></p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-40440400-1411639813.jpg" data-fileid="1461" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-40440400-1411639813_thumb.jpg" data-fileid="1461" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="IE 2.jpg"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">That's it for your default homepage settings! After making the change to your default homepage, you'll need to open a new Internet Explorer window to see the change. Changing your homepage setting doesn't retroactively affect pages you already had open prior to making the change.</span></span></p>

<p style="margin-left:18pt;"><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Windows XP alerts you when disk space reaches a critical level, but you have several options to free up hard drive space. XP includes an built-in utility, called Disk Cleanup, that deletes unnecessary files from the most common locations. More disk space can be gained by deleting files manually or moving them to an external hard drive.</span></span></span></p>
<p style="margin-left:18pt;"> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Low Disk Space Warning</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Windows XP warns you when it detects your computer is running out of disk space. The first warning comes when less than 200 megabytes of space is available: a pop-up window will appear for ten seconds once every session (each time you log on to your computer). The warnings become more frequent as free space decreases. With less than 80 megabytes of free space the warning appears twice for 30 seconds, spaced four hours apart. At 50 megabytes or less, the message appears every five minutes for 30 seconds. The warnings do not stop until free disk space is above 200 megabytes.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Disk Cleanup</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">The easiest way to free up hard drive space in Windows XP is to use Disk Cleanup. The program deletes temporary Internet files from Internet Explorer, downloaded program files, optional Windows components, Windows temporary files and older System Restore points. You can select check boxes to choose which categories to delete. If Disk Cleanup does not free up enough space, it may be necessary to delete files manually.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Unnecessary Files</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Remove files and application you do not use to free up disk space. Empty the Recycle Bin and clean out the cache of your Web browser. Review the applications installed on your PC. Those applications you do not use should be uninstalled using the “Add/Remove Programs” function located in the Windows Control Panel. Ensure that no duplicate files exist on your PC: remove any files that are duplicates.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Folders</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Your Downloads folder (or any location you use to store downloaded content) may be taking up a lot of disk space. Empty these folders of files that you no longer need or use. Pictures and videos also take up a lot of space: Delete those pictures and videos that you do not wish to keep. Using Windows Explorer, look around your hard drive for temporary installation folders and delete those as well. Once you complete the deletion process, be sure to empty your Recycle Bin to reclaim the space.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">External Storage</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#000000;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">If there is no need to keep the files on your computer’s hard drive, consider using an external hard drive to store some of your content, especially larger files. External drives come in various capacities, some as large as the hard drive currently in your computer. These drives connect via USB, and when connected can be used as an additional hard drive for your PC.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">It has to be one of the most annoying things ever! When you are trying to do some work or some research and you have a</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;">slow internet connection! Here are some tips you can use to improve the speed of your internet connection.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">PC Maintenance</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">You should firstly check your computer to see if it currently has any viruses on, this is a common issue to why your internet connection is slow! You should always have anti-virus software on your computer to avoid getting any viruses, you should also perform regular scans so any viruses will show up and be dealt with as soon as possible. We also suggest a scanning and cleanup of browser corrupted files with Wise Care 365 which helps browsers run faster.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Reset your Router</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">You can simply reset your router to try and gain a better internet connection. You can also try unplugging the router from the mains for a couple of seconds then re-plug it in, this can also help get a better and faster connection to the internet.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Position of your Wireless Router</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">You should when possible position your router in central position so that you get a good connection all around your home rather than just the one side. You should also avoid putting your router near obstructions such as walls and metal objects which will interfere with the connection making it weaker.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Replace the Router’s antenna</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">If you are unable to position your router in a central position of the home then you should buy a new antenna for the router. The antenna which has come with the router will be guiding broadcasts in all directions, and if your router is positioned near an outside wall, then half the routers power will be wasted going in the wrong direction. You should buy an antenna that has a high gain which focuses the broadcasts and signals in one direction which will make it stronger around the home.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Contact Your Internet Service Provider</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Sometimes, the issue is at their end why you are receiving a bad service from them. If you ask them they can check to see why your connection is slow. They may need to send someone to test your connection to see if you have any problems with the hardware they have sent you.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Check for Faster Connections in Your Area</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">You should check to see if there is a faster internet connection in the area which is available to you. You should look out for fibre optic cables connections as they can be much faster than copper wire cables. This is because fibre optic cables are made of glass so there is a lot less deterioration in your download speed even over long distances.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="color:rgb(89,97,102);"><span style="font-family:arial, sans-serif;"><span style="font-size:10.5pt;">The desktop is the mainstay for all users of laptop and desktop computers -- it's the place to store temporary files, post notes and do all the tasks that computer users do. Some people don't mind if their desktop is cluttered with lots of icons, while others feel the need to have a clean slate to work with. If you're having issues with deleted or unwanted items on your desktop -- including links to things you may have downloaded -- it can be frustrating when they won't go away. To fix the problem, start with the simple stuff and then move on to more involved steps for removing those unwanted items. </span></span></span><br /> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Right-Click</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">The first thing to try is to send the file to the trash. To do this, right-click on the file on the desktop and then select "Move to Trash" or a similar function from the menu that appears. In the best-case scenario, the item will peacefully be moved to your computer's trash; if not, you may see an error message that will give you information about how to remove the item.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Task Manager</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">If the item is in use, it may not move to the trash until you close it from the location where it is in use; this means you have to know where the item is in use. One way to find out is to look at the Windows Task Manager, which shows you all the current processes, programs and activity currently happening on your computer. To open it, right-click on your taskbar and then select "Task Manager." From there you'll be able to remove or delete any of the unwanted items.</span></span></span></p>	<br /><span style="color:rgb(89,97,102);font-family:'times new roman', serif;">Download Manager</span><p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">If you've stopped a download in the middle of the download process, you may be encountering issues because the file is only partially loaded. One possible solution to this may be to remove it from your from your Web browser and find your downloads. Click on the name of the item that is stuck on your desktop -- if it's listed there -- and then press "Delete."</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Add/Remove </span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#596166;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Another option is to try removing the icon using your computer's Add/Remove function, which can safely remove applications. On a Windows computer, select "Control Panel" from the Start menu and then click "Uninstall a program." Look for the program or item you want to remove and click "Uninstall." If this process does not work, try a third-party removal tool such as Wise Registry Cleaner to scan and remove junk items.</span></span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Instead of buying a new computer, adding RAM is often the most cost-effective upgrade you can make to speed up a sluggish computer.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">You may see a lot of similar articles on the internet, but they all seem a little bit complicated for normal users.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Follow the next easy steps to upgrade your RAM:</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">1. Check how many memory slots the motherboard has</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Most computer motherboards have two, three, or four memory slots. Some higher end motherboards have as many as six, or possibly even eight memory slots. This is the total number of slots available. Unless you are using a very old computer, you will have to change the RAM. If there is one more slot for adding one memory, you don’t have to reinstall the system.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="color:rgb(0,0,0);">2. Find Out the Maximum RAM Capacity for Your System</span></span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Determine if Windows is 32-bit or 64-bit. Download Wise Care 365, click Hardware Overview in System Monitor, you will see the info of your operating system.</span></span></p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-95663700-1409640230.png" data-fileid="1381" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_09_2014/post-12849-0-95663700-1409640230_thumb.png" data-fileid="1381" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="001.png"></a></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">32-bit can support up to 4 GB of RAM.</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;">In fact, 32-bit Windows is limited to accessing 3.2GB of that 4GB).</span></span></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">64-bit can support up to 128 GB of RAM or even more than that.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Lost files can usually be recovered—if you discover the loss soon enough. But every time you write to the hard drive, you lower the likelihood of a successful recovery. So use that computer as little as possible </span><span style="font-size:12pt;">when you want to recover lost files unless </span><span style="font-size:12pt;">you’ve given up hope.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Try these solutions, in this order:</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;">Use Wise Jet Search</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">There is a little chance that you placed the lost file somewhere else, but you are not sure where. In that case you will have to search the whole computer. With Wise Jet Search you can find any file in your computer unless the file is hidden or in the Recycle Bin. Users can also choose the file type or type in the keywords to narrow down the search. If you can</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">’</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">t find, read on.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_06_2014/post-12849-0-49440300-1403674476.png" data-fileid="1148" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_06_2014/post-12849-0-49440300-1403674476_thumb.png" data-fileid="1148" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="QQ截图20140625114559.png"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;">Check the Recycle Bin</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Windows stores “deleted” files here as a safety measure. You’ll find the icon in the upper-left corner of your screen. if you find the files there, select them, right-click them, and choose Restore.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;">Use your backup</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">If you back up your hard drive—or at least your libraries—on a regular basis, your files are probably preserved there. I don’t know which backup program you use, so I can’t tell you exactly how to search for and recover the files. It’s generally a pretty intuitive process.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">And if you don’t back up, maybe it’s time to </span><span style="font-size:12pt;">get into the habit</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">. It won’t help you this time, but it could the next.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;">Try file recovery software</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Even a file that’s no longer in the Recycle Bin may still exist. Windows doesn’t overwrite the actual ones and zeros until another file needs the drive space. That’s why I told you to avoid using the PC as much as possible.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">There are several good file recovery programs available. I recommend </span><span style="font-size:12pt;">Wise Data Recovery</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">. It’s easy to use and has a </span><span style="font-size:12pt;">recoverability analysis feature showing users how likely they are going to recover the deleted or lost file.</span><span style="font-size:12pt;"> </span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_06_2014/post-12849-0-86378600-1403674508.png" data-fileid="1149" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_06_2014/post-12849-0-86378600-1403674508_thumb.png" data-fileid="1149" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="QQ截图20140625131811.png"></a></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">And</span><span style="font-size:12pt;"> </span><span style="font-size:12pt;"> it</span><span style="font-size:12pt;"> also has a portabl</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">e</span><span style="font-size:12pt;"> version</span><span style="font-size:12pt;">, which means that you don’t have to install it, you can use it on your PC without writing to the hard drive. Download the program on another computer, and unzip it to a folder on a flash drive. Then plug the flash drive into the PC with the missing files, and run it from there.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;">Hire a professional</span><span style="font-weight:bold;font-size:12pt;"> (last resort)</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">This is the last resort, if none of the above suggestions work. There are many data recovery services available, and since your drive is still working, you probably don’t need one of the more expensive ones.</span></span></p>

<p><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">The Microsoft Windows Installer Error 1320 may occur when you attempt to install software on your computer. For example, when you attempt to install the Statistical Package for the Social Sciences software by IBM, you may receive an error message similar to "Error 1320. The specified path is too long.</span></span> <br /><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">C:\ProgramData\Application Data\SPSS." Several other programs that you attempt to install or uninstall an application may also produce the MSI 1320 Error.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">MSIExec.exe and InstMsi.exe Functions</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">When installing the SPSS software, the MsiExec.exe and InstMsi.exe functions return the MSI 1320 error if the installation folder named INSTALLDIR is mapped to a network drive.</span></span></span></p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Path names that are too long will also return MSI 1320 errors. For example, if you work with Visual Studio and you place projects in directories other than the hard drive, commonly "C," this is likely to occur.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">DOS SUBST Command</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">If you placed the INSTLLDIR folder in a substituted drive using the DOS SUBST command, an MSI 1320 may be returned. The DOS SUBST command is used to associate a path with the letter of a virtual or physical drive. Errors will occur if you use the DOS SUBST command on a network drive.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Temporarily Modify Shortcut</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Modify the C:\ProgramData directory by removing the Application Data shortcut before you install the software. You'll have to show hidden files to locate the shortcut. To do this, navigate to the "Start" button and select the "Control Panel." Click "Appearance and Personalization," and then click "Folder Options." Click the "View" tab, and then click "Show hidden files and folders" located under "Advanced Settings." Click "OK." Drag the "Application Data" shortcut to your Desktop. If that's not possible, rename the folder to unlock it first, and then drag the "Application Data" shortcut to your Desktop. Place the shortcut back to the C:\ProgramData directory after you finish installing the software.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:'times new roman', serif;"><span style="font-size:16pt;">Warnings and Considerations</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:symbol;"><span style="font-size:10pt;">·         </span></span></span><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Some of your settings may not be restored after you remove and then replace the Application Data shortcut. Workaround this by selecting the "Do not show hidden files and folders" option in the Folder and Search Options category. You'll also want select the "Hide protected operating systems files" option to restore your original settings.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="color:#232323;"><span style="font-family:georgia, serif;"><span style="font-size:11.5pt;">Contact the software or hardware manufacturer of the software or hardware you're trying to install to get the appropriate support. Visiting the manufacturer's website and posting a query on a forum may lead to a faster result.</span></span></span></p>

<p>I don't know if it's just on my side, but I've been noticing some problems with the functionality of the forums.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>(1) If I try to post a reply in a thread via the "Reply to this topic" box at the bottom of the thread ... nothing happens. The reply doesn't remotely attempt to get posted. I end up having to use the Black "Reply to this topic" BUTTON at the upper right of the page.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>(2) The next issue: Well, I was planning on attaching a screen capture image to show the problem that I'm encountering, but the problem is that I'm not being allowed to attach an image because the problem IS right at that area. So, I'll try to explain the problem. </p>
<p> </p>
<p>Right there at the "Attach Files" area at the bottom left of the reply box ... where the "Choose Files" BUTTON is --- some other text that appears to read "uldn't load plug" is being superimposed on the Choose Files BUTTON. This is rendering the Choose Files BUTTON non-functional.</p>
<p> </p>
<p>In case it helps zero in on the problem --- I am using Windows XP Pro SP3. I am using the latest version of avast Free Anti-Virus. I am using NetZero Dial Up Internet.</p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">"Out of virtual memory" is one of the Windows annoying errors. Usually your PC starts freezing first. Then an error appears and tells you that your virtual memory is too low. In this article we are going to explain what causes this error and how to fix it .</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><a class="ipsAttachLink ipsAttachLink_image" href="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_08_2014/post-12849-0-02009800-1407302709.png" data-fileid="1287" rel=""><img src="https://forum.wisecleaner.com/uploads/monthly_08_2014/post-12849-0-02009800-1407302709_thumb.png" data-fileid="1287" class="ipsImage ipsImage_thumbnailed" alt="v-mem1.png"></a></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>Note:</strong> Typically, this low virtual memory problem happens in an old computer.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">What is virtual memory?</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Virtual memory, also known as page file or swap file, is a file on your hard disk that Windows uses in addition to physical memory (RAM) whenever the need arises. For example, when you are running an application or a process your RAM can’t handle, virtual memory is there to help. Usually the page file is 1.5 times the amount of physical memory.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Why does the "low on virtual memory" error occur?</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">There are two things that usually cause this error:</span></span></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"> <span style="font-size:12pt;">1. You don’t have enough RAM;</span></span></strong></p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"> <span style="font-size:12pt;">2. An application on your computer is buggy and is causing a memory leak.</span></span></strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">How to fix it?</span></span></strong></p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Getting rid of this error is not too difficult, especially if it happens because your computer doesn’t have enough RAM. If that’s the case, all you need to do is add more physical memory to speed up computer performance. If you can’t do it immediately, you can increase the size of the page file. Here’s how to do it:</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;font-size:12pt;">Right-click on <strong>My Computer </strong>and go to</span><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"> </span><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;font-size:12pt;">Properties.</span></strong></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Click on the <strong>Advanced</strong> tab (<strong>or Advanced system settings link if you are using Windows 7 or Vista</strong>) and then click on the</span> <span style="font-size:12pt;">Settings button in the Performance section.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;font-size:12pt;">A new window will open. Go to the</span><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"> </span><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;font-size:12pt;"><strong>Advanced </strong>tab.</span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Find the Virtual memory section and click on the <strong>Change </strong>button.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Select the<strong> System managed size </strong>option or <strong>manually</strong> change the size of the page file.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Click OK.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">It might just be the case that your computer needs more real, physical memory. By this I mean RAM sticks that can be purchased in most computer, electronics, or office supply stores. If your PC is more than three years old, chances are it's close to being obsolete -- at least in terms of the ability to run today's resource-hogging software packages. And adding RAM to an older computer is the most effective thing you can do to upgrade it.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">However, if the error is caused by a buggy application, you’ll first need to identify the culprit. To do that, open the Task Manager (press <strong>Ctrl+Alt+Del </strong>on your keyboard) and go to the Processes tab. Then click on <strong>View –&gt; Select Columns</strong>. Check the</span> <strong><span style="font-size:12pt;">Virtual Memory Size</span> </strong><span style="font-size:12pt;"><strong>(in Windows 7 choose Commit Size) </strong>checkbox and click OK. Now the Task Manager will be showing how much virtual memory each application is using. If you click on the <strong>VM Size</strong> or <strong>Commit Size</strong> column name twice, the processes will be sorted based on how much virtual memory they are using, from largest to smallest. You will instantly see which process in the most hungry one.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Then you’ll need to find the application that’s running the process.</span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman', times, serif;"><span style="font-size:12pt;">Now that you know which program is causing low virtual memory, you can try to fix it. First of all try updating the software – usually updates fix bugs like that. If that doesn’t work, try uninstalling and reinstalling the application. If that doesn’t work either, contact the software support team and search the Internet for that particular software problem.</span></span></p>

<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="color:rgb(50,50,50);">1. Store your Photos &amp; Music on it</span></span></span></strong></p>

<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="color:rgb(50,50,50);">2.  Convert it into a Browsing Station</span></span></span></strong></p>

<p><span style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="color:rgb(50,50,50);">Now, that's a good idea. All you need is a power inverter, a device that converts 12V to 120V power. So, you can listen to music from the hard-disk or play VCD/DVDs while you are riding in a car, RV or a boat. Of course, if you are going to watch stuff instead of listening you will need a small LCD display as well.</span></span></span></p>
<p> </p>
<p><strong><span style="font-family:'times new roman';"><span style="font-size:12pt;"><span style="color:rgb(50,50,50);">6. Convert your old PC into a router or firewall</span></span></span></strong></p>
