Flash Player Freezes up page.

Recommended Posts

Many times I have had issues with what I believe is Flash Player. It happens on eBay sign in pages and sometimes on both sign in and signing out of facebook. I get a pop up stating "Shockwave Flash is umresponsive" . Then the mouse, task mamager, and all other funtions just freeze up. I have to do a hard shut down to get out of it. I have tried uninstalling Flash player and installing a new download of it. No help. I also removed Shockwave player completly too, no help. It only happens when I'm using Firefox version 28 and below. I have read too many issues about newer versions of Firefox so I'm trying to stay at the most stable version. Opera works ok and I assume IE works too although I never use IE as a browser. Hate it. I also tried shutting off my Only extension on FireFox which is Adblocker Plus and still no help. It appears I am having even more issues then before since I updated yesterday to the latest Flash player, although I have had this issue for at least a year now.

Thanks for the input. I have tried other newer versions of FireFox with the same results. As far as version 31 goes most people who commented on it don't like the change to the tabs bar and a few other issues.  http://www.filehippo.com/download_firefox/comments/58156/  However I will still try it. I tried something yesterday that seems to help a little. I installed both IE and Non IE versions of flash player on my laptop (running Windows 8) and it seems to help out a little. I'm beginning to lean towards the idea that it might be in both Facebook and eBay scripting issues because 80% of the time it happens on these two sites. I think I've tried just about all suggestions from resetting FireFox, getting into Firefox about:config menu, doing a complete uninstall, reinstall of it as well as Flash Player. I even removed Shock wave player, turned off all extensions, use CCleaner, Wise disk cleaner, Wise registry Cleaner, defrag, SuperAntiSpyware, Malwarebytes, and on and on. Strange thing about the whole mess is my Wife's PC (also Windows 8) has no issues at all with it. I forgot to mention my old XP machine and a Macintosh I have has the same issue too. Read hours online and tried several suggestions to no avail. Only reason I stay with FireFox is because of the many extensions to choose from and it's more secure then IE. Opera is ok but it has stable issues that is a pain at times. If FireFox 31 helps I'll repost my findings.

And the search goes on...

Thanks again for the reply and advice. Can't understand why the link to Filehippo.com which takes you to the 32 comments about version 31 doesn't work for you. I either click on it or copy and past to URL tab I go right there. Anyway I did download FF version 31 today and so far so good. No freeze ups today. :) Also all the normal tabs, etc. are still in the newer version so I don't understand why people on Filehippo were complaining they were not. As far as shutting down plugins and add-ons I tried that several times already. No help. The only add on (extension) I have installed is AdBlock edge which works better then adblock plus. The safe mode trick I haven't tried but will. Thanks for the advice...If I can go a couple of more days with out the freeze up issue I'll click on the problem solved button here and hopefully it will help other people.
