wisecleaner_admin Posted July 10, 2014 Report Share Posted July 10, 2014 Try this: Click Start->type CMD in search box->right click on CMD.exe->click Run as administrator Then type dism.exe /online/ cleanup-image /scanhealth press Enter key to run this command, When it finish, type dism.exe /online /cleanup-image /restorehealth press Enter key to run this command. scottfree11222 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Share Posted July 11, 2014 Run sur dozens of times, same with sfc /scannow, sfc offline (/scannow /OFFBOOTDIR=J:\ /OFFWINDIR=J:\windows) also tried Tweaking.com - Windows Repair All in One, wintools repair, etc.. etc.. et al.. Extracted winsxs from install.wim did a diff and replaced any missing files .. Removed every toolbar add-in for ie then reset all defaults and used dism /online /disable-feature / enable-feature to uninstall/re-install ie8 Found an old ie9 full installer rumored to be pre-MS bug-fugging the installer, disconnected from internet so it could not retrieve the alleged bug-fuged files.. aaannndd fail... Could not find mythical "ie10 enhanced with bing/msn full install" that is rumored to be fug-bug free.. Downloaded every *.mum/*.cat/.manifest file I could find (3000+ total) and loaded them into %windir%\Temp\CheckSUR\servicing\.mum & .cat and %windir%\Temp\CheckSUR\manifest\.manifest) Ran Checksur again to install/repair/update any missing corrupt packages annnddd.... scottfree11222 Posted July 11, 2014 Report Share Posted July 11, 2014 Yes, I have tried (multiple times) all the "official" troubleshooting procedures. I would re-install, but this IS a re-install and this problem manages to follow me like a bad smell. I could use another os from my menagerie.. 8.1 pounded into win 7, Server R2 2012 also pounded into win 7, an almost virgin copy of win 7 for emergencies/scavenging parts, and just for fun kubuntu on a flash drive. Win 8.1? It benchmarks 20/30% slower than win 7 and while they claim it's the benchmark program, I have found explorer.exe to be glacially slow and virtual unusable when opening any directory with a high file count, so if I removed any last hint of win 8 by tweaking whatever exp is doing and that combined with classic shell I will have turned win 8.1 into a productive OS environment, and I'll shall call my frankenOS creation? WINDOWS 7! Server R2012? Also pounded into a win 7 workstation clone, but way to much overhead for use as a desktop, and it's also "infected" by the Win 8.1 virus. I could start over with the virgin 7, but that's a TON of work just to install a craptacular browser that I only use as a fallback for sites that have issues with browsers people actual use. Went ahead and did an in-place upgrade, I have not been able to do that before because the official iso from ms would always fail with.. "You can’t upgrade 64-bit Windows to a 32-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 64-bit version of the installation disc, or go online to see how to install Windows 7 and keep your files and settings. 32-bit Windows cannot be upgraded to a 64-bit version of Windows. To upgrade, obtain a 32-bit version of the Windows installation disc." Of course it was the it was the same iso I originally had installed with, so just more ms catch 22.. 64.. 32.. hut. hut.. horse hockey, but then I just ran across these new iso's "Windows 7 SP1 Media Refresh editions" and they did the trick and allowed an in-place install, that allowed me to get to ie11. Of course it is MS so fix one, break another and now .net 4.0/4.51 are hosed..
