Batch File - Run WEI in Windows 8.1

Recommended Posts

If you miss the good old Windows Experience Index (WEI) benckmarking capability that was formerly available in Win 7 and 8.0, you can now run it in Win 8.1.

Comment: The link to the dropbox download is safe. The batch file is intended for Windows 8.1 only (tested by me).

I created another batch to get the last perfmon log (Windows 8.1 x64).

You should have at least one perfmon log:

- start - run - perfmon (enter)

- double-left-click data collector set, system, system diagnostics and left-click start button (or right click system diagnostics and click start)

- double-left-click report, system, system diagnostics and left-click the item under it: it should "collecting data for 60 seconds" (in the meanwhile)

- run the batch to extract the (last) report and send it to the desktop

@echo off
setlocal
icacls c:\perflogs /grant %username%:f /t
for /f %%i in ('dir c:\perflogs\report.html /s /b /a-d /od /t:c') do set reportfile=%%i
copy %reportfile% c:\users\%username%\desktop
icacls c:\perflogs /remove:g %username% /t
endlocal

Hi xilolee,

Not sure what your batch file has to do with running the Windows Experience Index in 8.1? The WEI is simply a benchmarking tool for comparison with others. This would be similar to any benchmarking software but with its own test criteria. So, could you explain the association or explain why you added it?

Thanks,.

Before Windows 8.1 (don't know with Win8), if someone needed perfmon /report, it worked.

With win8.1 it seems to don't work.

Since it is missing, like WEI, I helped another user to get the report.

If you think it should not be here, I can always move/delete the post...

Thanks for the explanation. OK, so you just added something else that is missing from 8.1. That seems to fit but your discovery, in itself, would have been deserving of its own thread. Now I understand why you added it!

Thanks,
