Before browsing internet how to set IE in the LAN

Recommended Posts

The local area network uses proxy server when Internet browsing, as for browsers that needs to make the necessary settings. With the example of IE , when browsers use the agent server the set method is for: with mouse right click hit desktop of IE icon, in pop-up of right key menu ,select "property" command, open "Internet property" dialogue box , select "connection ' items, then click" LAN set ", in" LAN (LAN) set "dialogue box ,selecte the" using Agent server ", and entere into agent server of address and port.

I noticed your post
I have a new(used) desktop tower (xp)
I have been connected to the internet since I had to switch out towers in Aug 2013

I checked my information on connections

IE- No settings in (Tools - connections) see attached file

Can I check automatically detect settings & be done with it ?
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Firefox - use system proxy (Tools - advanced - network)see attached file

Can I check Auto dectect proxy settings for this network & be done with it ?
 ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

1) Is the agent server my IP # address or the DHCP/DNS # ?
2) Where do I find my port # (Please be specific)

If if not broken dont fix it ?

Hi,

1, "Can I check automatically detect settings & be done with it ?"

If you don't use any proxy server, do not check any options.

2, Is the agent server my IP # address or the DHCP/DNS # ?
For example: Your PC connect to the router, then you can surf Internet. The local IP address of your PC is 192.168.1.xxx

Sometimes, you cannot open some websites with your local connection, so you need to connect to a proxy server first. (e.g 56.168.45.23 port:21)

Open IE---Connection----Lan Setting, checked Proxy server and enter address and port

3, Where do I find my port # (Please be specific)
If you means the proxy server port, you need to seek help from the proxy server providers.  It is the proxy server port, not your pc port.

4, Windows system don't have a proxy server addrss as default.

Generally, proxy server is none free, it is a payment service.

5, is this why my computer freezes when I have many tabs open & sufing the web ?

No. Your PC is freezing, maybe you open too many website at the same time, The system has not enough memory it is a defect of IE (Win XP).

5. Now that u mention it >>maybe you open too many website at the same time,

Yes I'm guilty of having to many sites open at one time not to mention trying to do 2 things at once confusing the computer.
I'm going to C
if I'm the problem

Have u heard of the saying>>> measure twice - cut once ?
How about this >>>>>>>>>>>>>click once-  and wait

1.see screen shot >>>>>>>> (left) Firefox  -  (right)  IE

Look about right ?
