  1. Hello Phil, I just reviewed your logs and it clearly looks like the files are missing but I thought you had recovered them. I see no evidence of any registry corruption so I extracted the missing files from my Win 7 SP1 (x64) Home Premium DVD and zipped them into an archive named phil.7z. I have sent that zipped file to your email address on record. Let me know if this works for you because I can't see anything else wrong in your logs. Good luck, UCanFixit PS: I sent it to your Yahoo address and it looks like it went there OK
  2. Hi Max, Could you please provide some additional information relative to your issue? Specifically, a screenshot of the failure and/or the complete text of the failure message with any error codes would be beneficial. Also, since it is pointing to a memory-related issue, it could be related to RAM or hard drive space. I know you said you have over half your memory left but additional details will be essential to identify your specific issue. Also, please include your specs with your next post. UCanFixit
  3. If it is only the Yahoo site, It could also be a DNS routing issue or a (failing) script running in the background. So, if your flash player checks out OK, do the following: Go here, and at the bottom of the page, type in the Yahoo url and see if your links are properly displayed: https://www.hidemyass.com/proxy#! Note that some advertisements and video links will be blocked when surfing anonymously but all the standard links should display properly (like this): Let us know the results of your testing. 4. Hello all, FYI, I am using WDC and WRC (portables) on a Windows 10 laptop without any issues. BTW, this Windows 10 Technical Preview OS is very stable and I have yet to find a single issue with it. I believe this OS is priimarily a Win 8.1 (update 2) based OS with a new look at this point but the changes are great for desktop users (IMHO). Anyway, here's a screenshot for your edification: CAUTION: Read the fine print before you take the plunge here: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/preview-iso UCanFixit
  5. Hello again Phil, After reviewing all the details of your issue (and those posted by my2cents), I believe you have the following options available: 1. Use a system restore point to revert (if available) 2. Check out this detailed procedure for fixing sfc /scannow errors in Windows 7: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html Note: This procedure will require you to have the original Win 7 installation disc. 3. Do a repair install: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html 4. Do an OEM recovery (if applicable) Good luck, UCanFixit
  6. Hello Phil, Your problem sounds very much like this one: http://forum.wisecleaner.com/index.php?/topic/3090-wdc-affecting-sfc-scannow-results/ I thought Wise was going to address this issue. It seems to happen predominantly on Win 7 PCs. UCanFixit
  7. See here for a possible reason why and a solution (if applicable). http://excelribbon.tips.net/T008445_Cant_Use_Hyperlinks.html
  8. It is hard to believe the manufacturer utilized all your free space so I'm guessing something else has happened. Anyway, show us a screenshot like so: Note that I have a 120GB SSD and I still have 97.7 GBs of free space. It appears you have a 500GB hard drive so I can only assume your manufacturer did not use all that free space. However, if your screenshot reveals that all free space is used, I would go directly to your manufacturer support group or consider an OEM recovery to reset everything to factory defaults.
  9. The upside down thing is a common issue for your rig. See here for the fix: http://www.sevenforums.com/hardware-devices/214850-webcam-problem.html The correct driver may fix your other issues as well. Make sure you select the correct one based on your PID in device manager: http://support.asus.com/download.aspx?SLanguage=en&m=X52N&os=30
  10. Hello sid, According to your specs, you are using the integrated Intel 2500 graphics arrangement which only supports a limited amount of low-end games. So, if you are trying to play a game like Battlefield 4, I doubt there is anything that can be done to improve your experience. See here for a list of games that Intel claims should run OK: http://www.intel.com/support/graphics/sb/CS-033387.htm IMHO, upgrading may be your best solution. Note that the above list is for a 64 bit system; however, I can only assume that it might apply to a 32 bit system as well. UCanFixit
  11. Hello 9reade, Generally speaking, you can disable all "user installed software/programs" at start-up "except" those that are security related and the Microsoft generic programs should not be disabled either (at least for starters); however, in order to serve you more accurately, it would be best if you identified all of your start-up programs so we could review them and advise you accordingly. If you require further assistance, please post an image as shown below: http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/ UCanFixit
  12. Hi knurk, FYI, Drivemax has corrupted many devices so please stop using it to prevent further issues. Did you try using the rollback feature provided with Drivemax? If so, and it did not work, try running the scf /scannow command per these instructions to see if it can fix that corruption or (at least) identify the corrupted files/drivers: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/1538-sfc-scannow-command-system-file-checker.html Once done, you may be able to recover a stable driver/file from your Win 7 installation DVD (as described in the above procedure). Other options: Use a system restore point (if available) Do a repair install: http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/3413-repair-install.html Do an OEM recovery (if applicable) Good luck, UCanFixit
  13. Roll back any/all new drivers that were installed (to the ones you had before) and retest.
  14. Just as Phil said... see here for instructions: http://www.winability.com/why-cant-i-copy-large-files-over-4gb-to-my-usb-flash-drive/
  15. The Bulldozzer design was AMD's attempt to go cheap on a quad-core CPU. You can buy your cpu and mobo combination for about $69.00 today at Microcenter. I am not impressed by your dissertation to convince me otherwise. Again you do have 4 physical cores; however, each pair shares common resources; therefore, the maximum capabilities of a true quad-core cpu can never be realized because of this sharing arrangement.
  16. clearing windows page file to speed up PC Shutdown This will actually slow down your PC shutdown process. If Wise stated it will speed up shutdown, they got it wrong! Actually, this is more of a security measure and has nothing to do with speeding up a PC shutdown.
  17. If you have tried all of my recommendations (Lenovo One Key Restore, repair install, clean install), you have a hardware problem. And, "still crashed" tells me nothing? I have literally written a book of things for you to try and you have responded with only two words. Good luck to you because I am out of ideas. UCanFixit
  18. I just went back and read your opening statement. If a program is the cause, you can probably disable all startup programs (from safe-mode) to see if you can boot normally: http://www.howtogeek.com/74523/how-to-disable-startup-programs-in-windows/
  19. One more thing. Since you have your data files backed up, you could try to do either a repair install or clean install (if you have the installation disc). Either would fix a software issue but it would not fix a hardware issue (obviously). Now, if you don't have the Win 7 installation disc, they are legally available for download (if you know your Win 7 version) but the ISO must be burned to DVD and you would need the key from your COA sticker as well.
  20. Yes, that is definitely a corrupted registry! Now, what could have been the cause? Did they start right after you did something specific (ie, tried to update a driver, applied windows updates, installed a new program)? However, my first guess would be that you have encountered a corrupted driver issue or a piece of your hardware has started to fail. I would go back into safe mode and uninstall the graphics and sound drivers for starters and then try to reboot. Please understand this is just my "first" best guess. No harm in trying something easy at this point. Also, do not go out and buy that Win 8 upgrade until you are sure that it is only a software corruption. So, give this a try and let us know. Also, please provide your make/model of your computer or system specs (if self-built). Good luck. UCanFixit
  21. I agree with admin because you have switched your issue from a known registry corruption to a single driver issue. FYI, your audio driver is probably OK. It is just not being loaded during a safe-mode boot. With that said, I doubt that enabling audio to work in safe mode will fix your real issue; however, you can try this procedure but use it at your own risk please: http://www.answers.com/Q/How_can_you_make_the_sound_work_in_safe_mode Good luck, UCanFixit PS: If you want to come back and provide more specific details, maybe we can help but you have to disclose all known issues to get a targeted solution/recommendation.
  22. Hello Anipi, Based on the detailed description of your problem, I doubt that Wise Care 365 (or any other cleaner/tune up utility) will be able to fix your current issues as they are not designed to fix registry corruption that has been (most likely) caused by a rogue program installation or malware. With that said, I would recommend the following actions: Try to restore your system to a previous working configuration using a system restore point (if available): http://www.fixedbyvonnie.com/2013/08/how-to-start-system-restore-from-the-windows-7-command-prompt/#.U_8PvGPlqUk If the above does not work, enter safe mode and try to recover all important data files to a USB flash drive. Then use the Lenovo One-Key Recovery feature to restore your laptop to factory defaults. Good luck, UCanFixit
  23. You are entitled to you opinion; however, your CPU is not a true 4 core CPU because it shares resources. For example, each of the two core pairs shares the same L2 cache. In summary, you do not have 4 true cores that work independently of each other; period! Moreover, that arrangement is no better than having 2 cores and 4 logical cores. Also, Windows is one of the few programs that recognizes your 4 (pseudo) core arrangement. And finally, your quad-core cpu benchmarks are about the same as a dual-core Intel cpu with hyper-threading. Check out the benchmarks. And, BTW, now I will tell you that Wise got it right! The one thing you did get right is that you can't compare AMD processoors with the Intel brand because they are not even in the same league. Good day to you.
  24. Hello tipstir, I cannot account for why some programs recognize your CPU as having 4 cores and others recognize it as having only 2; however, I can tell you that your 4 core CPU is quite different than an Intel 4 core CPU because Intel CPUs have 4 true cores with dedicated resources for each core; whereas, your CPU has 2 modules (with 2 cores mounted on each module), and each module shares a variety of common resources. BTW, the Passmark rating system identifies your CPU as having 2 cores with 4 logical processors (similar to Intel hyper-threading). In summary, I don't think that Wise is unique in the way they are identifying your CPU but that is just my opinion. Also, good luck with your speed discrepancy issue. UCanFixit
