  1. I figured out how to import a copy of my contacts list to my windows live account. Since my online e-mail showed the contacts, I signed on to my online e-mail account, clicked "people," "manage," "import," save ".csv" file to my computer. Then, I signed in to my windows live mail, went to my contacts, selected to import the ".csv" file I'd saved and thereby transferred the contacts to my windows live account. Hope this is helpful to anyone who might have a similar problem.
  2. Hi, Thank you very much for your suggeston. I didn't think disabling firewall would be a viable long term solution to this particular problem owing to the risks but did add e-mail & contacts to firewall exception list. That didn't work however. Are there other ideas please? Thank you again.
  3. My contacts on Windows Live e-mail account are inaccessible although they are visable on my online e-mail account. When I go to access contacts on my wlive account, I get message: "Your e-mail account has no contacts. Add a contact or sign in with the Windows Live ID you use for messenger and Hotmail to see those contacts." I don't use messenger but did use WLive ID to no avail. I have already uninstalled & reinstalled WLive to fix but apparently that was not the resolution to this error. 4. Sorry it took so long to let you know that your suggestion worked. I was a little hesitant to try creating a new profile, however, the problem has been successfully taken care of. Thank you so much for your guidence.
  5. when I create new account (profile), can I have administrative rights assigned to it? If so, how do I do that? what happens to the profile that cannot load? Do I delete that account from user profiles? What should I name the new account, administrator? my name? are there any other adjustments or consequences I should be aware of? Please advise.
  6. No, that hadn't occurred to me so I haven't tried it. I have absolutely no idea how to go about it either. Would you explain to me in a simple way how to accomplish that or point me to a solution that is clear and precise please? It sounds as though creating a new profile isn't simple. Thank you.
  7. No joy. I uninstalled UPH service and ran sfc /revert. Identical problems remain: when booting up I get a light blue screen saying "Please wait" (I forgot to mention that step before), sfc begins at startup and event viewer still logs userenv event error 1500.
  8. No, sfc indicates no problems. If you're asking about event view whether it shows problems, yes. Userenv Event ID 1500. Re UPH service, I don't really know whether it is required. I am the sole user on my computer...so I think not? What does sfc/revert actually do?
  9. In my event viewer I am seeing Error Event ID 1500 on windows xp sp3. Windows cannot log you on because your profile cannot be loaded. Check that you are connected to the network, or that your network is functioning correctly. I am not having problems getting online. I am using the User Profile Hive Cleanup servoce and have set it to load automatically. Every time I restart my computer, it takes a little bit longer to shut down. Then, the system file checker (sfc) begins every time the computer restarts. Would a system restore fix the problem? If not, what is the solution? 10. I have uninstalled, rebooted and reinstalled and rebooted keyscrambler (qfx softwre corporation, version 3.30). However, after installation, when typing online all fields are inappropriately encrypted whereas the program is designed to encrypt only password information and private information For example, if I go to do a search on google, text comes out garbled and then, of course, google doesn't know what to look for. When I typed in "attempt search" on google, I got: "3zux,93sd/\gp7." 11. Thank you so much, it definitely worked. Such a simple solution (if one has the expertise), however, so elusive if one doesn't. I'd been trying to find the solution for some time now and only your suggestion has worked.
  12. when i open internet site, task manager shows two instances of ie8 are open, one of which hogs memory from the ie8 task which actually opens the site I want to be on.
